$5 Tables at FW

Just got back from a 2 day trip to Foxwoods, and $5 tables were readily available during off-peak hours. Both Great Cedar and Rainmaker had them in abundance; I didn't make it to MGM, but from past experience they seem to have similar mins.

I have been playing at Foxwoods for quite a few years, and this is the first time I have seen $5 mins as a matter of policy. It was only at 11 am that they began to transition into the usual $10 limits.

Before this trip, I hadn't been to CT for several months, so I'm not certain when this fairly dramatic change occured. Previously, the only $5 BJ in CT was at Mohegan, where they created a separate pit of $5 H17s. However, the $5 BJ at FW is most definitely still S17.

Strange - was that in a separate pit? And at which casino in Foxwoods?

The games I was referring to were in the same pits (and at the same tables) as usual, so it would be impossible for them to have different rules than the standard S17 S4 at Foxwoods, unless they change the felts periodically throughout the day when they raise the minimum - which was not the case. Like I said, these were in Cedar and Rainmaker.

Was that the game in the new non-smoking Cedars casino? Never saw it, although I did hear about a $5 game in there. What do they do, roll out new felt with the H17 rules on it? Seems like a waste of time to me. They tried H17 when they opened up the MGM and they didn't fly.

I saw SP21 come down to $5 once there.

Good to see you hitting the tables again Is there any rule where if a game is H17 compared to the usual S17, the felt must be a different color? Sure, the felt has to say H17, but idk about the actual color of it.

That would certainly be benevolent of the tribal commission, but when MGM briefly had the H17 games that AM referred to, I don't remember them being a different color than the other tables.

I am interested to know if anyone else has been to FW recently and can confirm these $5 H17 tables and their location. I know the $5 tables I was at were S17 (especially because I got screwed by the 6 upcard with Ace in the hole what seemed like an exorbitant number of times :cry, but they were also not 24/7 $5 tables and in a separate pit like Mohegan's.

These $5.00 games were at MGM. Pit Bosses have been moving minimums down to $5.00 on request a at S17 tables also, but only when really slow.

Ahh ok, it figures that MGM would be the one with $5 H17, since they had already experimented with H17 before. I guess they have an excuse now, if those low mins are 24/7 like Mohegan's.

MGM does have $5 tables but they're all S17. Max bet $300. Just saw them the other day. They were open very early in the morning, but when I came back through in the afternoon they had been raised to $10 mins.

Just because I see em doesn't mean I play em. Scouting a place means just that. No bias, look at it all.

Completely agree. I often see low limit games with superior conditions (mostly pen) than higher limit games in the same casino, sometimes even the same pit. They are usually unplayable because low limit games tend to be more crowded, but not always. Especially now a days that things are thinning out. So it never hurts to look around.

KJ is 100% correct. As I've said in the other post, HL games does not necessarily translate into better playing conditions especially now. I know for a fact in several casinos at AC, the red chip games offer better penetration probably because casino mgmt doesn't expect red chippers to be counting.

And beyond that, there is great power in being able to come and go as you please. No HL pit I'm aware of allows NMS or allows you to skip hands. And that's pretty lousy with a $50 min.

Amen to that. I hate throwing away money in negative counts. You also have to deal with a lot more crap too from ploppies who will throw you under the bus after you hit your 12 vs a 6 or worse.

Same as usual for FW, which is to say: about 6.5/8, dealer dependent.

The $5.00 games are now at the Rainmaker and MGM. There was a lot of confusion about H17 a couple weeks ago but yesterday all tables were regular Foxwoods rules S17 DAS LS 3-2. The only difference was a $300.00 max on those tables

Apples and oranges,...
You shouldn’t compare the playing conditions or the rules in the high-limit pits to the lower-limit pits.
Different objectives. Different goals. Different expectations.
Mid-shoe entry, hit vs stand 17, 6 vs 8 decks, etc., all are meaningless when you’re comparing the different pits.
When you play at the high-limit pit, you may have to play cloak-and-dagger trying to cash out $20k anonymously.
If you play at the $5 pit, CTR (cash transaction report) is never a problem.

I got “backed off” several months ago at Foxwoods. They pulled me away from the table and asked me for an ID. I told them that I may have accidentally left my ID in the car. I said that I’ll go and get it, and she was going to have a security guard escort me to the car, and I said loudly “I’ll be right back!!!” and walked briskly out of the high-limit pit. I went outside and walked all the way around the entire casino to throw off the sent, and then finally went to my car and drove home. I still have several thousand dollars of chips with me. I’m planning to return in February to test the waters. This really sucks because Foxwoods is my favorite casino in the East Coast.

Does FW still offer $5 games or have these evaporated?

Btw, how tolerant is FW when it comes to bet spreads? Say 2 x $10 to
2 x $150? Would that draw heat or result in a back-off?

Are they tolerant when it comes to playing anonymously?

Can someone give me an idea of the betting levels required for-
a) buffet comp
b) gas comp
c) room discount
d) room comp
