With due respect to Flash (and I do respect him), I disagree in part with his conclusions. I have found the games very playable and the heat non-existent, though I've done well there. I do agree that comps are tight - a "free" room will cost you about $35/night in taxes and surcharges (at least this is clearly disclosed when you book), and it is tough to earn meal comps if you're getting a "free" room (the value of the room is debited from your comp balance and you have to earn back its value before you can get anything else). Also, I've found very poor video poker pay tables there, so I can only imagine how the regular slots pay back. If you like to play machines, or have a companion who does, beware. All in all, though, Atlantis is a unique, very upscale resort, and to be able to enjoy it for far less than the paying customers, while getting to play a game that's as good as the best in the benighted northeast from which I hail, is not a terrible deal from my point of view.FLASH1296 said:Yeah, I can describe them.
Sweaty, slow, and marginal.
Almost needless to say, I was backed-off with light action.
Comps are poor, and everything is expensive.
Definitely never worth a trip.
If by northeast, you mean Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, that's not saying much. If you're including Atlantic City, which is really Middle Atlantic, then it might be worth the trip. Wouldn't you do better to fly out to Reno. Flights are cheap and free rooms can be had, at least after your first trip. And the games rank with the best.pieinthesky said:All in all, though, Atlantis is a unique, very upscale resort, and to be able to enjoy it for far less than the paying customers, while getting to play a game that's as good as the best in the benighted northeast from which I hail, is not a terrible deal from my point of view.
No one can argue with that.shadroch said:Sometimes, people go to resorts to actually enjoy themselves, relax, recharge, ect, ect. As much as love the EC in Vegas, a long weekend on the beach at Atlantis is a wonderful change of pace.
Who the hell can't make it to the men's room and be back before a shuffle is done? Unless you're talking about pooping...FLASH1296 said:Perhaps I should elaborate a little on my terse response.
"Sweaty" I was backed-off betting an (anemic) 1 to 2 x 3 in black at a -.41 shoe game.
"Slow" The slowest dealers that I have ever seen. Full tables were perhaps < 40 hands per hour.
The dealers deliberately deal as slowly as they can it seems. The shuffle is so slow you can visit the men's
room if you like and make it back before the cumbersome shuffle has been completed.
"Marginal" No, not as good as Connecticut. Same as Atlantic City, but with no chance of seeing good pen'
Atlantis has 10-15 sd 6:5 tables but I don't recall seeing any 8d.FLASH1296 said:They have never offered SD or DD games to the best of my knowledge.
You will find 8 deckers; and 6 deckers for high stakes players.
Incidentally, they seem to employ the world's slowest dealers.
I'll do a write-up when I get back. I know you're a huge fan of Atantis, maybe I'll sit next to a celebrity :laugh:FLASH1296 said:They have never offered SD or DD games to the best of my knowledge.

Heck, I did that at Dover Downs last night, and yes, I did wash my hands. I wonder if there's a point where shuffled cards become unshuffledFLASH1296 said:The shuffle is so slow you can visit the men's
