Back off question/Cannery-LV

Hello all,I am a newbee posting but have read this forum since 06.I DO NOT count cards or use any official counting system all I do is wait and watch for the small cards and then increase my bet, I guess you could say I just scan the cards.I was playing at the Cannery in North Las Vegas for about 30min and only up 50.00 bucks when I was told I could play any game but blackjack and that my play ay the blackjack tables was not welcome! This is the first time this has happened to me,I just cashed out and left.I have the following question for the pros here.1-do they think I was counting or just being rude.2-what would you do ?would you ever go back there again if you dont count.3-how long should I stay away?I guess I am just looking for some ADVICE on what to do.thank you.I am a low stakes player,a red chipper most of the time.

Almost forgot it was a double deck 5 dollar min table and I was betting 1-5 units depending. There were about 3 other players at the table.

Wow when I read a story like this I can't help but think what kind of morons run these casinos? Their paranoia and fear of winners is crazy. They most likely did think you are a card counter when you raised your bets. It probably happened with a rising count since you did do it after all those small cards came out. No knock against you Bergy but I'm sure you play with a negative expectation but are there for entertainment and the casino just threw you out without realizing you are a money maker for them.

My suggestion is just go to another casino, there are enough of them around. Once they make the decision I'm sure there is no changing their minds. You could call the casino manager or write a letter explaining they kicked you out for no reason or mistaked you for a card counter but it will probably just fall on deaf ears.

A non counter busts a non counter

Happened to someone I know who plays like you do, he sees a bunch of small cards and raises his bet on the next hand.
My guess would be they never really evaluated your play. The person who made the decision to back you off basically saw what you saw, small cards followed by a raise in bet, and determined you are a counter. The true count might still be negative but just as you did not know this, neither did he. Dumb stuff happens and it happens most often at dumb casinos.

There was a similar post on bj21.com a few days ago. Asian ploppy varying his bet (not with the count) and got backed off. And some people wonder why casinos are in trouble now

Most casino people cannot effectively count, and what they are looking for is bet variation. Any kind of bet variation will attract their attention. But your "looking for small cards" is a form of counting and probably was enough to give you a small advantage even if its not very profitable. Even a Basic Strategy player is of no value to a casino and they would rather he not be there.

Regarding returning to Cannery, you will probably be OK but be warned the Cannery has a history of violent and abusive things happening to patrons so be careful.

I know of cases where other sweatshops have flyered players to the Cannery, and that the Cannery acted on the flyer without doing any evaluation on their own (e.g. the player was backed off in 15-minutes after employing a 2:1 play-all spread). It stands to reason that the Cannery probably flyers players to other properties. Which properties, and whether or not the information would get used by other properties is likely something you won't know until you get backed off somewhere else.

.

But they still sell STRATEGY CARDS in the gift shops and allow them in use at the tables!

The casinos could print basic strategy tables right onto the felt and players still wouldn't follow it correctly!
Oh I've seen players bring their own BS cards to the table, hold them in their hand, read them... then disregard their advice.

Oops! I should not have scolded that lady next to me so badly for her poor decisions and disregard for the card. She was an AP in disguise!

I recently retired and to keep myself busy I play blackjack at several casinos in LV and I count cards. I play about 20 hours a week and win about 300 dollars a week. I'm a low roller and do not get any heat. The only thing I can think of is that you made several 5 dollar bets in a row and suddenly jumped to 25 dollars. I rarely make a such a jump, you would be better off jumping to 15 dollars.

Before I moved to Las Vegas 15 years ago I used to come here twice a year and played blackjack at least 8 hours a day. There were times I got a little heat, never got banned, at that was usually at smaller casinos. At that time there were a lot of small casinos and they looked for counters since it affected their bottom line more significantly than the large casinos. I was asked not to play any more only once, I was up about $200. The pit boss told me that they watch each shift very closely and he would get a lot of crap from his boss if his shift did poorly. He told me not to play any more that night. Actually he was very polite about the whole thing.

Although you are not actually counting you are obviously watching the cards which the pit boss must have seen. There is a trick to counting/watching cards without giving any one the appearance that you are doing it. This reply is getting a little long. If you want I will be happy to share my experiences with you if you reply back.

I just spent ten plus hours at the Cannery over two days, spreading $5-40 and didn't feel a wiff of heat except whenI played with a guy who seemed to be playing a simple progression- four bets of ten, four bets of twenty, four bets of forty, four bets of eighty. After an hour or so of fairly steady losing, he won his four bets of eighty, including a double down. Pit went bonkers. Within minutes, they switched dealers, bought more chips and changed the cards, as well as having two suits watching the table. It was annoying as I decided to flatbet to avoid being accidently linked to him somehow. The guy did have BS down pat and if he was counting, he was damned good at disquising it.
