barred - returning

I was barred from a casino over a year ago. I plan to return.

If I obtain a new player's card using a differnt form of ID (passport instead of driver's license), will they identify me immediately?

I think that as long as I use some other form of ID than what I used the first time to get a player's card, they can't, unless the are able to make some kind of connection between the two. For example, if they swipe my passpport, and see my driver's license info (which is doubtful).

If I use a differernt ID, then they cannot 100% identify me as the person they barred, even if the name and date of birth is the same, since it could just be a coincidence.

They probably will ID you immediately because you have the same name and DOB on both forms of ID, unless the booth babe is very stupid. Best you change something they use (spelling of your name, DOB, etc.)

One time I got a second player's card with a new number by convincing the booth babe the guy with the same name/DOB as me was my cousin (used a diff. address).

Try an address change

In my experience Name and Address is what is important to them. They often have people with the same name(coincidence) and different addresses.

This worked for me (but I wasn't barred, was just worried about recording too many wins):
1.) Go online to your DMV site and change your address to a friend/relative's house.
2.) Say you lost your ID and they will mail a new one with the new address to the address you just changed it to (At least they did in my state. I thought I would have to go in to the DMV to get a new one so you may need to go in.)
3.) Once you get your new ID change your address back on the website.

Now you have a new legal ID that the casino will see as a different person (At least my casino did.) They don't look too close when adding new accounts, they just want to get as many addresses on file as possible to send mailers to.

Play without a card, or use someone elses.

I disagree with this. DoB seems to be a vital peice of info. I have several legal ID's with different addresses but several attempts to obtain new players cards have not been successful because of the DoB.

For the novelty ID, no, it is perfectly legal. But if you look like you are anywhere near 21 you could run into an underage issue and be hassled for more ID or even exposed to the police.

Unrated has its advantages but if you are playing any kind of high stakes or are a regular it will wear thin and expose you to more scrutiny than if you are using a players card. Which is better is a judgment call.

I think it depends on the name. I am sure Caesar's has more than one John Smith and Jose Rodriguez born on the same day. The Asian names complicate it even more- you realize how many Indians are named Singh and Koreans named Kim?

It would make an interesting discrimination case, as some nationalities have a wealth of surnames and others have relatively few.

I agree and important factors in the above are:
How big you are playing unrated
How often you are going to play a given casino unrated

Get a good novelty ID as long as 1) you are playing in a major area where they don't check IDs at the door and 2) you don't appear underage.

If you are in Vegas or somewhere like that then you can play again no problem after a year.

Yeah, my name is pretty common, almost John Smith common, so that probably helped.

Highly DO NOT recommend for anyone not playing stakes high enough for the risk/reward thing to balance out. You would be better off playing unrated or on a friends card.

Use your real ID at the door. Ask for a wrist band or stamp if you look underage to keep the age thing away from you at the tables. You should never have a fake ID on you when you are playing. If asked for ID at tables when playing under an alias refuse...if finally facing arrest once away from tables for suspected of being underage then you find your real ID at the last minute. Chances are the security will never realize that you are under a different name...if asked about that say you were playing on a friends card to get him some comps.

Agree. If you get a wristband at the door then you're all set.

DO NOT use a friends card! I'd much rather get caught using a fake ID: you at least have the defense of the common law right to call yourself whatever the hell you want.

Playing on your friends card is fraud, and this sort of thing routinely leads to denial of slot jackpots.
