Basic Strategy Question

Hello,

I'm fairly new to blackjack, currently living in Alberta, and am having troubles on determining what basic strategy to use. The rules here are DOA, DAS, (I'll still have to check on if its H17 or S17), late surrender, 6 decks.

So far, I've seen 2 charts in books (for multi-deck), LV and Atlantic City charts.

So, from what I see, the differences between LV and AC charts are if users are allowed to double after splitting. In the AC charts, it seems like play is a bit more aggressive, splitting on 2's and 3's and 4's more than in the LV charts, but looking at websites, (and planning a trip to vegas in a few months), it seems like LV casinos use the DAS rule, so would I start looking at the Atlantic City BS chart? I'm guessing it also depends on which casinos I hit as not all casinos will have the same rules (and I'm assuming that applies to wherever else I play). So I guess the proper mindset would be to actually look at the rules and base my decision on them, instead of looking at the geographical region in which the books say "Las Vegas Charts" or "Atlantic City Charts" and would also assume that these are only general charts.

Hope this makes sense!

Thanks

I think you are reading an old book, where the major difference between Las Vegas and Atlantic city rules was the S17 and late surrender. You can generate a basic stratgy chart for different rule combinations using the basic strategy engine

hope this helps

Thanks! So you would use the chart on this site (in the link you provided) as a standard basic strategy chart? I guess i'm confused because the other boards where it has LV rules, has DAS. So i input that into the link you provided, and looks extremely similiar to the charts that are considered "Atlantic City" in the books that I've read.

I've actually looked on a few books (about 4), and they all split it up based on the LV casinos and AC casinos. One of them is a 2010 book ( Winning Casino Blackjack for the Non-Counter by Avery Cardoza), but he must be assuming some common rules, and perhaps haven't updated the book completely (2nd revision i think).

Thanks!

yes - just input the correct rules to get the right basic strategy for that game. (most books are overrated :cat:)
