Betting like a Robot

On so few occasions do I see a player betting like a robot.
The count goes down they raise their bets.
They won the last hand, the counts the same, they raise their bets.
I watch Black chip players just throw out any size bets, no regard to count.
A few weeks back I sat with a player betting $125-1000 with just arbitrary bets and ended up winning $30 grand. Of course he was dealt 20 nearly every hand.

All we read is that you bet according to the TC.
So here is my question.

What is the correct way to bet?

IF the TC= +1 and your bet is 2 units, and you win 3 hands in a row and the count stayed at +1 thru all 3 hands, are you still at the same bet of 2 units?
You never stray? (discounting any AP techniques)

The TC=-1 and you won 4 hands in a row, are you still betting only 1 unit?

I bet like a robot, 1-12 spread, take my small winnings when I dont get clobbered on a high TC losing run, but get aggravated when I see what I described above.

How do you bet?

Yeah, why wouldn’t you bet the same? Your advantage is the same so your bet is the same. The results of the past few hands have no effect on the next hand. The only reason to change your bet at that point is for cover or something like that. The “correct” bet is still 2 units.

By that time I probably would have left the table. :) If you’re still playing at that point, why would you raise your bet when you know that the house edge is even bigger than usual?

I hate it when I have a large bet out the and I push as the count dramically plummets. I always want to pull my bet back, sometimes I do sometimes I let it ride but leaving a large bet out with only a small or nonexistent advantage is painful.

What do you guys do?

In BJA, DS says that decreasing your bet after pushes are ok. "Can't even win with 20's..."

I agree with what you say, and I bet according to the count. Watching these players bet so erratically and winning makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong.

If I pushed with an advantage, and now I have less of an advantage, I drop my bet. I found more grim faces from the pit when I parley my wins (on a rising count) then when I drop my bet on a push (falling count). Once, when asked why I took down my bet, I told the PC that my luck didn't work on the first try, why should I push it twice? She walked away and left me alone for the rest of the night.

my reaction to that is ...

bjcount says: "I agree with what you say, and I bet according to the count. Watching these players bet so erratically and winning makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong."

We can all empathize with this.

What I do to negate such thoughts is simply tell myself that the lucky ploppy who won so much will probably lose 20 times as much before year's end.

Good Thought!

I'll burn that into my "FLASH" memory chip. :)

Thanks.

I watched a kid who was drunk as hell one night start with 400 bucks and work up to 12,000 i almost ****. it was like no matter what he could not lose, when the count was awful he would pull a 20 i watched him split 6's againts a nine to pull a 4 and 5 double those and catch 10s on each it almost made me sick. This isnt the only time i have seen something like that.
We work so long and hard to make some money, and these guys seem to do everything the exact opposite of us and they crush the tables. but hey like FLASH said they prob lose all of it back plus some.

I've got no problem seeing people win. The problem I've got is seeing the casino win

On the flip side, I'm always appreciative of other players losing...after all, I've gotta win somebody's $$$

good luck

Sometimes when the count is slowly climbing, and there is a double down for

somebody other than myself, I say "give him a ten" when really I hope he

gets a low card lol. Like you said, I don't mind if they win, but I also don't

mind if they lose.

Robots do everything right and have no fun at all.

Everybody else does everything wrong and has a blast betting and playing however they want :)
