Mathematically, no. But it does pretty much eliminate the shot at the hole card. I think Plaza and LVC are now both dealing double deck out of a shoe as well. Plaza started doing this this past September.
Is there a "trend" by the casinos that offer both shoe and pitch games to play the pitch games only on the higher limit tables? This is true at AmeriStar in KC...or was the last time I checked.
Also, the cards are dealt face-up which is beneficial to card counters. It's not as beneficial as front-loading, but you have to take advantage of what you can get.
I remember when the Horseshoe used to lay the deck flat on the table and let the player cut the deck by lifting the cards off the top of the pile and dropping them on the table. I'm sure a few smart players took advantage of that huge opportunity so the casino began using the plastic cut cards (like everyplace else does). It just goes to show you - you've got to keep your eyes open and get your advantage before the casino gets wise to their mistakes!
