I'm the admin there.
Actually i'm the admin over at BJS and as i'm on holiday at the moment i'm not signing into that account to do work that the site owners could easily do themselves.
Due to the advertising randomly generated by google on the site, BJS recieves a phenomenal volume of spam. So much spam in fact that when i'm actually maintaining the board, i have to invest several hours each week. I have made that issue clear with the people that own the board as i won't have time to continue this sort of work rate, so if you have an issue with the board in its current state, please email [email protected] and feel free to make clear that under current conditions the message board is un-usable. The current level of spam is no more than a few weeks of build up.

Just for your information, I do not run the site or own the site so it would not be me you were emailing. I thought i was fairly clear in the distiction between "admin" - me, "owners" - not me. Guess you need things spelled out for you or you could just try thinking about things before you post them.
All i do is moderate the boards. I feel that the spam levels are causing a major problem, but without some complaints to the people who do own the site, there is very little i can do about that. And as i've already stated - i'm not spending hours of the few weeks holiday i get a year doing work that the site owner could easily do himself if he chose to pick it up.
Anyway thanks canceller.

Canceller - there is. The randomly generated adverts that the site uses on its front page is, from what i can tell, causing a greatly elevated volume of spam. Certainly we were not recieving such a volume of spam previous to these adverts being put up. Now I've managed to talk the management into banning the inappropriate adverts (the ones advertising bogus systems - that wasn't difficult), but they are still keen to keep the adverts, which essentially does not fix the problems on the message board.

Could someone explain to me the motivation behind these obscene or otherwise offensive spam attempts. I simply cannot imagine that they actually result in "customers" or in any other way produce anything beneficial.
Now, if that motivation is for its potential to aggravate, I might could understand. Same way with SPAM eMail. If anything, I make it a point to never buy from a commercial enterprise that sends me unsolicited eMail or SNAILMAIL for that matter.

Nice idea Canceller, but i've already made as many changes to prevent spammers as i can upto the point where yesterday i changed the settings so that members have to be okayed by the admin team before they can post - not something i wanted to do.
ZG, what is your problem? Nobody offline love you? Yes i am a moderator, yes i can "bust" posts, no i'm not going to spend hours doing so right now. I agree the management team should take more interest in their board, but as far as it goes, it's still another place where free discussion can take place once certain problems are resolved. I see no reason why any such opportunity should be wasted.

P.S. I love the link ZG, pretty much proves my point. Check the date on those posts..... If you'd chosen a link to a game discussion thread which you felt was a "pissing contest" you might have gained some credibility.

I fail to see how you have come to the conclusion that you've scored a win out of that one Zen. Your post was still irrelevant. Yes i see that the spam is a negative thing, i've never stated otherwise. My issue was with your attitude. All i did was ask for a little assistance of the board members.
You know a lot of people have a very negative view on you in the community but quite frankly, as someone who doesn't know you directly, you make it very difficult to like you. You have a sever attitude problem and actually behave in the same negative fashion about bjinfo that radar and stalker do with regard to bjform. It's a little sad to see you living up to the reputation.
