Blackjack Training open source software

If any of you fellows are interested into learning seriously how to play Blackjack, practicing card counting and so on, you should check out this new software that has been released recently: (Dead link: http://www.3dblackjacktrainer.pierotofy.it)

It's free software, so you don't have to pay a cent to use it. At the time of writing the software is still in beta release, so problems might occur while playing. But it's worth trying it.

I will admit that I have only looked at the screen shots and have not downloaded or tried your program. With that said, I only checked out the link because it was an open source blackjack trainer. I really only run linux, or about 95% of the time I have linux booted. I really wish there were some great open source programs for ap blackjack. I have cvcx, which incidentally is one of the only reasons I keep a windows partition, and I have tried casino verite. I would love to see cvcx or casino verite for linux. Unfortunately Norm doesn't really have support or like to support people who purchase his products that want to run it however they like on their machine...long side story...but I still love his products enough to keep a separate partition for windows (cvcx doesn't even want to play nice with a virtual machine).

I do have one question, why does it seem that people who write blackjack software want to add some crazy aspect to it??? Why do a I need a lady talking to me to help me figure out the program? Why does a blackjack training program need to be in 3D?

Just my little rant for today...good luck with your program.

I don't blame Norm; porting that to Linux would be a tremendous amount of work, and I doubt there are more than a handful of people (if that) who would make use of it.

As for the 3D, it's meant to be a trainer, and mimic the table conditions of a casino. Makes perfect sense to me.

Perhaps you should write your own open source BJ sim; that's the open source way, isn't it?

There's a "person" telling you how to use the trainer because the software assumes that not everyone in this world already know how to play blackjack; if you do, good for you, but not everyone's like you.

It's made in 3D because it tries to simulate as accurately as possible a real casino situation. Cards look different from a 3D perspective rather than a 2D one.

No GNU/Linux port is planned anytime soon unfortunately, i used the Managed DirectX libraries which obviously cannot be used under Linux.

Make sure you have the .ogg codec installed; i noticed that the installer fails to recognize whether or not the codec has to be downloaded and installed automatically, i'll be soon posting a new release that fixes the problem.

Sorry OSX users, but MDX only works on Windows machines...

There is...it's called VMFusion...it allows running Windows on your MAC. I installed this software on my MAC and ran it and it works great in the partition.

Instead of everyone complaining about why it only runs on Windows, how about just putting it on Windows and run it. Who cares why it was decided to be 3D? I think it's kind of cool, myself.

I haven't had time to run all the features, but the ones I have is very well done and is great for beginners, a great way for them to start.

Kudos to pierotofy! Great job!

There are several PeeCee Emulators that run on Macs, e.g. Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion, etc.

They do poor to fair jobs.

Windows XP and Vista, run better on a Mac than it does on a Peecee.

As odd as that sounds, it is confirmed by a consensus of experts using real-time speed tests.

The Apple Macintosh Operating System comes with a free application called "Boot Camp"
which allows one to run both Windows and O.S. X on a Macs.

Go to apple.com and check it out.
