Building A Bank Roll

#1
I am just getting into BJ so my bankroll is small. Wanted to see if anyone had any tips on building a bank roll, unfortunately I wont graduate from college for another year or so the big bucks wont be flowing in til then. I made between 300 and 700 a month playing online texas holdem but I have been on a cold streak so I am thinking of giving it a rest ans trying something new. Let me know what you guys think.

I would reccommend that the bare minimum that you start with is 500u (x$5 = $2500) but you can look at it as a "replenishable" number and even if you start with a finite 500u you may need to add to it. SO, you can view it as 100u per month (1200u/12mos) and size your bets as though you have the full 1200u right out of the starting gate. zg

I go to school at UT Austin and will be in Houston for the summer. I am hoping there are some reasonable games in Louisiana and there is a gambling boat out of Port Aransas that I am hoping will have a good game as well. If anyone has any knowlegde of casinos in texsas and lousiana I would appreaciate hearing what you have to share. As for now I have become pretty good at BS and am reading Play Blackjack Like the Pros so I am starting to learn the HiLo count, been running through a single deck counting it one card at a time and 2 at a time, which I find much easier. If anyone has anytips on this I would also appreciate hearing them. Also thought I would add my bank rol lright now is probably about $500. Maybe I should build it another way? Thanks Bosco

I beleive that the best way right now for folks wanting to build a bankroll especially if you have a small one is by playing online casinos, and playing the bonuses.

I agree. Definately take a look at the online casinos for their new user bonuses and work these to your advantage. An example is Bet365 which I just made a nice little profit at. I opened my account with $200.00, which is the maximum amount Bet365 will match. I then played many many many hands of $2.00 Blackjack using my initial $200.00 deposit and the $200.00 match from the casino. I wrote every hand down and when I had hit the mandatory 10x wager requirement (which is to say $4000.00 in total wagers) for withdrawal I checked the Bank option. As I had expected, both the bonus and my deposit were now available for my withdrawal, along with an extra $60.00 which I won. In other words, I deposited $200.00 and just withdrew via Neteller $460.00.

Check the Blackjack - Online Casinos forum for more information:

By the way, ALWAYS carefully read the terms and conditions for the bonus money before depositing to the casino. At Bet365 a single play of Pai Gow Poker using the bonus money will lose you the bonus money plus any winnings associated with the bonus money!

So you think you have a good chance to clear the WR before losing you initial deposit? How many hands an hour are you playing there? Thanks

Arnold Snyder has just written a book called "How to Beat Internet Casino's and Pokers Rooms" you could pick it up at amazon for a lil over $10 not a bad deal at all.

What do you think about playing the martingale system to burn through the 4000 WR? My friend wont accept that it isnt good. So I told him I would confirm with you guys.

The only point in playing online is to milk the bonus amount. A neg-progression would increase the possibility of having a bigger loss. Just flat bet it. zg

Everyone will most likely say NOT TO Martingale. Flat bet a couple of bucks for quite a few hands and you'll soon see why. Losing streaks online seem to last for a longer duration then at live casinos, most likely an effect of the cards being reshuffled between every single hand.
Betting table max to chase down what started as a two dollar bet is just stomach turning.
Reverse Martingale if you wish. Not negative progression wagering, but positive. Bet one, win and then bet two ... etc.
