Buying $1 chips in bulk

My friends and I are thinking about going to the casino and buying a bunch of $1 chips (a couple hundred) to use when we play poker, that way whenever we stop playing we can go cash them in and don't have to spend money buying chips online. Has anyone had any experience with this, and is there a way to buy them from somewhere other than the tables? I don't want to go like table to table wiping them out of $1 chips lol.

I routinely get 100 $1 chips...

If the place offers poker, you can buy them from the cashier's cage. Never tried that at a place that doesn't offer poker though, like the place you may be thinking of.

There's a place a little farther away that offers poker, I think I'll just go there instead of my usual store. Thanks for the help.

If you spend $100 buying chips from a poker room and hold them for a year, you might as well spend the $5 to buy some poker chips and leave your $100 in a mutual fund.

There are other reasons for getting real casino chips. When I play blackjack at home I want to make it as real-life like as possible, and using the real casino chips will allow me to practice ratholing as well.

It's your money, but if I were going to spend the time/money to buy a casino-style blackjack layout or a poker table, I'd spring the extra $10-$15 to buy a nice set of 500 11.5g chips. Your blackjack table and dealer will likely have more significant differences than the chips.

Edit: If you buy chips from the casino you should probably go back occasionally to make sure they haven't changed their chips; you might encounter cashing problems if you have old chips and they've switched to new chips.

No dice on the $1 chips :( lol
Okay, we're going to need much more detail on this. You bought the chips, but they wouldn't let you leave with them? Did you try to steal the plastic rack they came in? :joker:
Let's hear it!

I sat down with $300 and asked if I could get $1 chips. They asked why I needed $1 chips I was honest and told them that I wanted real casino chips to play poker with (and that I'd be able to save money on them because I wouldn't need to buy chips online), to which they replied that since I wasn't going to play all they could do was give me 3 blacks.

This store does have a "poker room" but the games are only available by making a reservation in advance and chips are bought at the table (I assume you could also bring chips from blackjack tables), but they are not sold by the cashiers.

I suppose I could just buy like 10 chips every time I sit down at a new table haha, it would probably take a couple trips but eventually I'd have my whole set

Haha, I would do that but I don't wanna pay for the mask...got one I could borrow? ;)

I'm going to my main store (today I went to a different one because they had a poker room) in a few days, so I'll just keep table hopping and getting 20 $1 chips at each new table haha.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know how much casinos pay for their chips?

The chips themselves are cheap, the unique design is costly.

Well if anyone cares I was able to get my chips from a pretty much poker-only card club. I simply bought the chips at the cage, threw them in my pockets, and walked out. Nothing suspicious except for the obvious rattling noises in my pockets haha -- any ideas on how I could keep the chips from moving?

Wear tighter jeans. If a hot waitress notices, just say you're *very* happy to see her.

Tonight was the easiest of all. Bought 50 $2 chips, walked away, put them in my pockets, went and watched a couple horse races outside, went back in and bought 100 $1 chips, put those in my pockets, called my friend, and talked to them as I walked out the door.

I don't know what was wrong with the first place I went to because this place didn't seem to care at all...maybe next time I'll try to take the racks too
