Can not surrender against dealer ace?

In macau, the casinos allow early surrender with only one exception: when the dealer shows a face card ace. Sounds interesting?

Any guy out there who is good at bj math could advice how this exception may affect the house edge, compared to simply allowing early surrender in all conditions, in terms of %?

I think I remember reading the stats about that in Blackbelt for BJ, nonetheless I'm sure one of the other regulars can give you the stats behind it. Early surrender without surrender on an ace though really takes the players edge out of early surrender.

Where I play there are 5 casinos in my area and until recently none of them played with a dealer's hole card but allowed early surrender except on aces. Just recently two of the casinos, sister casinos, opened up a single table where they have a hole card. The rule at these tables, regarding surrender, is kind of odd in my opinion. Again there is early surrender, except on aces, but after the dealer checks for BJ, you can surrender on aces. Is this common??

Early surrender against a dealer ten is worth about 0.23% to the player.
Early surrender against both ten and ace is worth about 0.63% (S17) or 0.71% (H17).

As you can see, eliminating the ability to surrender against an Ace eliminates about 2/3rds of the value of the rule. Still, it's a nice feature against the ten.
