Can this be hussled??

i was in a pub the other day and noticed there was an electronic blackjack machine(similiar to a poker machine type setting)...the machine uses 4 decks, it has a minimum bet of $1 and maximum bet of $50. i dont know much past the basics of trying to win at blackjack, but i have a feeling these conditions would be prime for counting and since there would be no interference from dealers/pit managers. how much advantage could one expect to get from these conditions. and how much could be made?
cheers

Put your money in and see for yourself. It will be a good lesson in life for you. Expereince is the best teacher. With all that said what do you think.

Maybe, if the machine isn't set to reshuffle after every hand. However, to know if the game is beatable we'll need to know the rules and how deep they deal between shuffles. Many combinations of rules will make this game unbeatable. With good rules and perfect play it may be worth a few bucks an hour.

Once we get the rules, maybe you can persuade someone to simulate it.

Experience is not always the best teacher, as that is why (some) ploppies believe in various myths.

Chances are that it isn't beatable. Like Ken said, if you can get more info about the game, and it happens to be beatable, the low limits would yield a small win rate.

Perhaps even more importantly, there's a a chance the machine has shorted the payout somehow (like 1:1 on blackjacks) in such a was as to make the advantage much worse than regular BJ.

It's my guess that as an electronic game machine each hand is calculated by a random number generator rather than an algorithm based upon 4 decks. Essentially, every hand would be shuffled after each play and completely random. This is just my guess, anyways.

This entire thread is retarded. You can't beat an electronic game. 95% of them (maybe 100%) pay 1:1 for BJ and 95% of them are algorithim/shuffle every hand. And there is no electronic game anywhere paying 3:2 and dealing multiple rounds from the same deck or shoe. No chance.

Interference from dealers and pit managers is a near-inconsequential problem for people who are betting low stakes, and it is not the primary diagnostic for whether a game is good or not.

Even in the case where there are playable machines, note that the absence of pit managers doesn't necessarily mean there's no scrutiny. As a matter of fact, it is relatively trivial for a computer to remember the last million hands you played, calculate the true count on every hand you've played, and insta-ban you if you're playing with an edge or if you're found to make correct BS deviations. When the pit calls surveillance, all they do is plug your play history into a computer anyway - playing on a computer shortens, not lengthens, that process.

Video poker is the arena where you'd think they'd incorporate a strategy checker into the machine. But strangely, I don't think that's too common.

Aren't there very few EV+ video poker machines now? I thought they just adjusted all the payouts so that you couldn't beat them in the long run any more.

Nonsense, there was just a thread about these games in RI, and it's well confirmed that it's mimicking a real BJ shoe game. Lousy pen, but still beatable.

Pretty much only +EV machines in Vegas, at some casinos, and limited denominations.

But it would also make sense for comp tracking purposes. You could comp a VP ploppie like a slot player, and a perfect strategist like a blackjack player.
