Casino Verite

#1
I am learing Hi-Lo and or KO I have been counting down decks and dealing some to my self. I was wondering if casino verite is worth spending $90 on. I will be in Houston for the summer a short 2 hours drive from Louisiana Casinos which I would like to frequent over teh summer. Or do you think it would be better to just deal to my self and count and play out the hands? I appreciate any suggestions from the pros.

Well, that's a tough question to answer. If you are becoming a serious player then you will end up buying the CV software eventually. However, if you don’t intend to play seriously then CV will not be worth $90 to you. Let me describe the software a little bit so that you can decide if it is right for you.

Casino Verite offers the most accurate and realistic playing conditions available. It also has a database of casinos so you can simply click on a casino and it will load the settings for that casino (number of decks, rules, table min/max, etc.). It also has photo-realistic shoes and discard trays so you can get a head start on your deck estimation. On top of that it also has a huge amount of BS and card counting drills. The drills alone are easily worth the $90. You will be able to get MUCH more practicing done with the software that by dealing to yourself (think of the shuffling, dealing, betting, payouts, etc.). I have been playing for 7 years now and I still use the CV drills for BS and index practice.

However, $90 is a lot of money, especially for someone who is just starting out. It would be very disappointing for you to buy it then decide that you aren’t interested in card counting after all. If you’re not sure then you should continue practicing at home or using a free website to practice.

As I said, if you know that you are serious about card counting then you will definitely want the CV software. You will probably want either CVCX or CVData at some point as well (once you really get into the game). If you really want the best practice software available then you should buy it. If you don’t want to commit to it just yet then that is understandable.
