it been along time since counting system invented.do u think the number of card counter increase or decrease? what are the affect when counter population increase or decrease?

There are probably more counters today than in the '60s. But, as a proportion of the total gambling population, it may even be lower. Gambling has expanded so much since the invention of counting.
Very few full-time players. I would guess most of the full-time pros are on teams.

I tend to concur with that opinion, Moo. Although there are no hard stats available, just my hands on observations of casino reality suggests that there are very few counters circulating among the country's blackjack pits on a normal day-to-day basis. It's hard enough to find a handful of BS players in any given week, at least in the Reno area.moo321 said:

When I look at the big picture I wonder how much time, effort and money is wasted by the casino industry in vain pursuit of thwarting this nebulous and overblown perceived threat. Just tell them to keep an eye out for the organized teams and leave the "lone gunman" alone. Something tells me that the money saved would be better spent in providing more and better games and amenities while the added influx of wannabe and ill-prepared counters would more than offset the occasional loss from a competent AP.

Professionals and Amateurs players
VERY few Professional level counters remain.
Most have followed Arnold Snyder and others to the Poker Room.
About 20 years ago I was playing in a Backgammon Championship in Nevada.
I was having dinner with a group of veteran A.P.'s
The consensus was that there existed between 200 and 250 BJ Professionals in the U S A; defining Professionals as those without earned income or outside support who have been successful enough to support a middle class existence for a minimum of two consecutive years.
I imagine that there are more and more young people who are seduced by misleading movies and books and who try to Count Cards, with mixed success.
