My local small casino (1 or 2 BJ tables open during the week) has a 6-deck shoe 3:2 BJ, dealer stands s17, DAS allowed and 6:5 single deck BJs dealer stands s17, DAS not allowed. During the week when only one table is open they always open the single deck game. Sometimes I am the only player and request the 6-deck game but they basically force me to play the single deck or I can choose not to play at all. (It's a 20 minute boat ride, and the boat leaves hourly. I either play the single deck, or sit at the bar for an hour or play slots; but I am not a slot player).I am not a counter but the single deck game all cards are dealt face up (with the exception of a double and that card is dealt face down) and the deck is played all the way down to the very minimum of cards left. This sounds like a counters dream but then there is the 6:5 BJ issue. Also, another issue to a counter may be the table limits $5-$100.
I have really lost big time using BS (and this is with play on the 6-deck shoe) and am wondering if learning a counting system is worth the trouble especially considering my small BR and the table limits at the casinos that I play the most often. Yesterday, I played regular 6-deck BJ at six different casinos in Laughlin, NV (a 1 hour drive for me to Laughlin and add another hour and I could be in Vegas). I went down $400, and this is the fourth week in a row I have done this. I play almost everyday any where from 2-6 hours. I was doing pretty well and then disaster struck. Your help and advise is very welcome. I only have a very little BR left and if I can't win my BJ career will be over. I read, study, and play the simulator everyday.
