The concept of counting is simple. When the deck you are playing with has more face cards than low-value cards, the deck will produce more wins for the player. So, you "count" the cards by assigning a value of +1 to the high cards (10 through Ace) and -1 to the low cards (2 thru 6). In most systems, 7, 8, and 9 are counted as zero. You keep a running count and divide that running count by the number of decks left to be dealt to the players resulting in what is known as the "true count." Basically, when the true count (TC) is positive, the deck is rich in cards that will produce more wins for the player. When it's negative, the dealer has the advantage.
