In a single deck game ...........Is the running count always the same as the true count ?

yes, the true count is the running count divided by the number of decks.

in this case:

running count / 1 deck = running count

If there is deep penetration and more than half a deck is dealt you can multiply the RC by 2 at that point.

Yes it is, but....

...if you want to squeeze every single bit of information in order to as correctly as possible you can divide your running count with fraction of the deck.

Example: Half a deck is dealt and running count is +3, (true count is +3 too), but you can divide +3 with 0.5 (half deck) and you are going to get +6 for true count. Interesting a?

In most cases you should just stick to the rule that running count = true count in single deck games.
