Try Motor City- then MGM, Greektown is generally poor. The HS is far better than the main floors. Take care.

I live about 45 min from Detroit, and I've been to all 3 of Detroit's casinos. I haven't been to the new Caesars Windsor though, so I can't tell you anything about there. Like you, I don't want to hassle with the exchange rate and the passport deal.
I've only been to Greektown once, and that was back in February this year. Dealer stands on all 17s, DAS, Resplit anything. Can't remember how many decks. However, from what I remember, the lower limit tables use Continuous Shuffle Machines, but I've heard that's not the case for the higher games. It's a bit of a dingy place, to be honest. Definitely the low man on Detroit's gambling totem pole. Hell, the place nearly had to file for bankruptcy earlier this year.
MotorCity's a pretty good place, but the Blackjack game is a little poor. Dealer hits S17, DAS, Resplit anything, and I think 6 deck shoes. However, penetration is piss poor at around 50%. These are for the low limit games, though. Can't tell you about higher limits. Nice atmosphere, not so nice blackjack.
MGM Grand's my favorite, both for the blackjack and the rest of the casino. Dealer hits S17, Resplit anything, DAS, 8 deck shoes for low limit games with pretty good penetration. I haven't played the high stakes tables. The dealers are a little incompetent, so keep an extra eye out for payout and hand total errors. There's also a couple of Double Exposure and Spanish 21 tables with total bullshit rules. If you get a meal there, the Palette buffet is pricey, but absolutely fantastic.
I'd say go with MGM Grand. I hope that helped.

What passport deal are you meaning? If you are a US citizen or Res Alien/permanent resident you do not need a passport or visa to enter Canada by land. A US birth certificate and a driver lic is sufficent to "prove" your citizenship. Windsor loves American's who come to play in Windsor. If your only intention is to play casino and you have no felony convictions you should be able to enter Canada without a passport.ChefJJ said:

That includes it's own citizens...this is unenforceable and I have crossed the border without a Canadian passport several times, they will yell at me and tell me "By law I cannot let you in" I say, "I don't care send me back, I was just going to casino/Bills game/Tigers game etc" they will say "ok fine, but I am doing you a favour" No harm intended to the USBP, they are a good organisation and the US Passport law is unfair to it's own citizens.
If you do go to Windsor and need to change money do so at the Windsor Casino cage. They give the best rates, better that the banks in Canada and the ExchangeEx booths at Duty Free. Stay away from ATM's with international cards they are userous in their exchange rates.

Anyways, I digressed in regards to what I meant to post.
I was in Detroit last night. The city of Waterford a suburb about 30mins drive north of Downtown Detroit on I-75 just past Pontiac has legalised "Charity Casino's" in most bars/poolhalls/nightclubs. I was speaking with locals and they have no idea how this was legalised but the games are everywhere. these are not casino's but just table games set up in a nightclub/poolhall and this is the clientele you get.
"Charity" rules are in effect. I have no idea what the charity was. The poker room takes a 10% rake and the blackjack tables are 6 deck, S17, DAS, DOA, ties lose, BJ pays 3:2 and suited naturals pay 2:1. there were NO pit bosses. Just a dealer smoking while he dealt, $1 table minimums, no posted maximums. The dealer bends the cards to peek for BJ. One dealer I was watching peeked on EVERY hand, not just a X or A. Another dealer dropped the shoe on the floor, only to pick it up, put the cards back in the shoe and continue dealing!!!!!!
I am not a big poker player but I sat in the poker room for a couple hours against some of the worst fish, loose and drunk imaginable. Almost makes up for the 10% rake.
I could see no evidence of cheating on the BJ dealers parts and the game security was atrocious. The ploppies were drunk and rowdy. One fatass would scream at the dealer, "F$$K You!!!" everytime he would draw out.
I was shocked at first but these joints should be able to be cleaned out by AP's or cheats. I can't see them lasting long.
I didn't really get into it as I wasn't "working" just visiting and mixing vices!!

The Alley steakhouse though is superb . Giving away comps at Greektown is a joke . I asked the pit boss once if they deducted them from his paycheck and he said " not yet but it is on the table -lol". Best crap odds are at the { or were} at Motor City but as I am saying my info is dated buddy . Both border crossings by the way enforce the CTR vigorously so when entering or leaving request a cash transaction report cause if you get stopped on a random check they WILL confiscate the money and then you have to get a lawyer to get it back - and you will get it back at a cost . Happened to a couple of friends of mine a few years back . Just a heads up buddy . Knock them dead and by all means a poorer casino after you leave is alwys a happy day .

You know, now that you bring that up, I remember seeing an advertisement for one of these in a restaurant guide. I always wondered what was up with these. I'm not a big fan of that ties win rule, but the ridiculously low level of game protection sounds like it more than makes up for that rule. I live only about 15 min east of the Waterford area, so you can bet I'll hit one of these this weekend. I'm a little concerned about how they might handle an AP player, although it sounds like heat should be no problem if the deal would actually keep playing from a dropped shoe! HAHA!Martin Gayle said:

All they need is a temporary gambling license for charitable organizations, similar to what a church or community organization would need for a bingo night or saturday afternoon poker tourney. The "charatible organization" takes care of the license through the state and usually a private company handles the games. Take a little off the top for whoever owns the building and the rest is split 50/50. Would be a healthy little business as someone I know who used to work at one says sometimes the total rake can be $3K.
There's 2 of them near me, both open 7 days. Heard of one that was supposed to be adding Blackjack and Roulette but hasn't happened yet.
And as for my 2 cents on the Detroit casinos, I personally like MGM the best but none of the BJ there is too spectacular. All 3 are usually pretty busy too.
