im about 10 minutes north of waterford and one night while i was out with some friends i was at the shark club in waterford. i believe on a saturdays is when they have these "charitable events" with blackjack and hold em. i am fairly new to the scene of blackjack so i wasn't playing just there for a minute. if anyone has some good info as to the rules, how many decks they use and where to go, the info would be greatly appreciated.

Shark Club has BJ every night of the week, as does a place called Stix that I think was somewhere on Telegraph. Rules are good until you reach the "dealer wins pushes" rule which makes the house edge HUGE. This far outweighs the advantage for BJs paying 2 to 1.

Might be a good place for you to practice keeping the count if you flat bet the $1 minimum though. I was there on a weeknight and my friend and I were playing alone most of the night.
