Did Something I've Never Don Before

#1
Last week I was playing heads up at a SD. They do not use a cut card and don't seem to follow the rule of six either. They just deal until it seems there aren't going to be enough cards left in the deck because the dealer is always checking to see how many cards are left.

All four aces came out in the first third of the deck and the count was not good either. Ordinarily I would just have walked away but I wanted to keep playing so I asked for a shuffle. The dealer called the PB and told her I wanted a shuffle. I told her all the aces were out and there was no way that I could get a blackjack. I play there occaisonally and I'm sure they recognize me. I know the dealer did.. Well the PB said, "Sure go ahead. Just don't make a habit of it."

Beats wonging out.

Thats okay. If later a senior mgmt accuses you of counting just admit again
that ofcourse you watch the Aces and you've always been upfront about it.

Notwithstanding, it was NOT a great ploy. zg

Didn't anyone ever tell you that using your brain in a casino is illegal (to them)? Admitting that you have a brain is suicidal.

I often ask for shuffles in - counts but never say why and save it for the really - times when hitting 14v6 would look really obvious and it appears that I'm getting killed. Most pb's just nod and walk away. I've never had one run over to the phone and stare at me after asking for a shuffle. Ploppies do it all the time.

In bad counts, rather than mention anything about that, just wait 'till you lose a hand and say, "Boy, I can't catch anything here -- how about a courtesy shuffle?".

Let us look at this another way...if you are playing a great 6.5 SD, and all the aces come out right away,,,the rest of the slipper has an off the top advantage, mayber as high as 2%, and the SD I play is usually always dealt to the bottom or out.

Curious?? What rules might you be playing that could make up for the 1.4% 6-to-5 subtraction, and how would the elimination of Aces enhance it?
