Does it help if you know someone at the casino?

Does it help if you know someone at the casino?

I was playing Texas Hold'em online on Pogo, a fun no money game site tonight. I ended up 100K+ ahead. One of the players mentioned she had her car keyed (scratched) and was scared. Then I found out she's from Vegas. Not only is she from Vegas, but she works at the casino I'm going to stay at next week. She was very polite and friendly. She said she knows everyone and I should avoid the "house" dealers. Hmmm... what are "house" dealers?

She works where you register for the player cards. I told her BJ was my game. She said to meet her there and she could fix me up with some perks and comps along with tips on who to avoid, which dealers are good, etc. I wonder if it's true?

What have you got to lose? Working in the Player's Club, she probably at least can hook you up with anything they might have going on as a promotion at the very least. As for "House Dealers"....that's one that I haven't come across.

I'd say, go to the Player's Club with an open mind. Any information she can give you is more than you had to start with and you can always ignore any that you suspect as being worthless.

What I inferred from her referring to "house" dealers is those dealers who are experienced and play to take your money. There are a lot of ways a dealer can cheat that can't even be detected in a slo mo playback of a video. I always look for new dealers. She also could have meant the dealers that have been there a long time because they win... like a spoiler... if you believe in that.

I was playing in that casino one day and the young lady dealing was very nervous with the suits watching her very close. When the suits walked away for a minute I asked her what was going on. She had lost $9K to a guy and more total to the other players earlier that day. She said she expected to get fired and they were watching her until she finished her shift.

There are facts such as statistically proven BS and sometimes you just have to play a hunch.

If I were you, I would cultivate this friendship. Any friend working in the players club can only help you. Someone has to enter data and put people on lists. It might be beneficial to have someone helping your stats.

She's a nice lady and we have become online friends. We play many of the same games online. I have to stop taking her tokens in TX hold'em before I wear out that friendship. She has lost about 1/7 of her lifetime earnings in the last week. I keep forgetting to ask her what she meant when she said to avoid the "house" dealers. She has other info and help and she keeps reminding me to stop by to see her before I play much. It can't hurt to try what she says, but I don't expect any miracles. She might know some hot slots, friendly dealers... who knows?

Sounds like she wants you! To lose 1/7 of her lifetime earnings in a week must be a really big kick in the pants...ouch. Maybe she'd want to go on that roulette show where you wager everything to try and double up.

 She knows my wife is coming with me. We will celebrate our 33rd anniversary while in Vegas. I got in trouble with a young lady online and then in person a couple of years ago. That's a bad bet I won't make again.
