Pretty unreal, but I can't blame them for trying. The table barriers are something else! The industry is going to completely go to shit. I feel for them.

(Room rates are just as high as they were pre-covid)
Good for them. At least they're doing everything in their power to maintain safety, unlike the greedy, brain-dead assholes and their patrons in Las Vegas.

It's 4 players to a table at Foxwoods and they have the plexiglass partitions. The Fox Tower Casino is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but don't get too excited. Before they they shut down every table there paid 6 to 5. I have no reason to think anything has changed. I couldn't get in there today to check.

I used to make some good money at that casino.

I would always try to find the most unhappy dealer and then talk to them. Tell them how the casino should pay them more.

You tell them that they should be making more money.
Next thing you know your 1black chip with 5green on top becomes 2black chips and 4green on top.

It only happened on 1 trip. It was the greatest session I played.

I'm curious if other players have found this to be true, what beating vegas mentions above. If you're kind and thoughtful to the dealer, do you find you get advantages for this, and even generous payouts / buy ins like he describes?

I've never seen blatant stealing/cheating by dealers I've been extra kind to. It's incredibly dangerous, and if noticed, you could both be arrested. (Mistakes do happen of course, and that can be advantageous.)

But dealers that like me might cut deeper, or save my "favorite seat", or chase away the riffraff, or even tell me when and where their next shift is. They are also good for deflecting the floor, establishing a private table, and speeding things up.

I once had a Foxwoods dealer wink at me as she substantially overpaid me on two consecutive hands and one of those was a push. She had done the same to another player that she seemed to know and it wasn't a mistake. I sensed it was hush money because she knew I saw what she was doing. I have witnessed this at that venue about a half dozen times over thousands of hands since 1992. I guess that makes it rather rare.

My reaction has always been the same. I immediately leave the table even if I'm not the one getting falsely paid. These people will most likely get caught and I don't want the attention that a review would bring. Unrelated to that, I am permanently banned from blackjack there.

I’m nice to dealers and more importantly floor or pit boss. Don’t ask them to do anything illegal. But being interested in their life is the best cover and free. On very rare occasions dealers do make mistakes and it’s not your job to correct them.

To this day it was the best black jack game I played.

It's a good policy. There are plenty of other tables and you definitely don't want to get tangled up in a criminal case, since it's effectively certain they will get busted eventually, and they will figure out everyone else she's ever mis-paid.

Just curious, what got you permanently banned? My understanding was that they were pretty tolerant overall, at least outside of the slightly jucier games in the Newport room. Though I've always kept my top bet <$500/hand there over the years unless I was doing something "beyond".

Sure. I was straight counting an 8 deck H17 game on the main floor. With a $25 base bet I had gotten up to a $200 bet by the end of the shoe, not that unreasonable for this poor game. I played for no more than 45 minutes total. I left at the shuffle rather than start a new shoe back at $25. I certainly wasn't going to start at $200 and work down if need be. Just a routine day where I didn't win all that much and I forgot about it as soon as I left. I had done this hundreds of times never playing rated. They know me but I don't want my information in their database, especially cumulative wins.

I returned about a week later, sat at a table and bought in. I got my chips but before I could place the first bet, there they were. Pit boss, floor and 2 uniformed security guards who were trying not to be noticed. Despite playing nonrated, the pit boss called me by name and said that I could no longer play blackjack because I was card counting. Nothing hostile about it and he did say it was security that reviewed my play. I think someone from the pit called up but who knows.

I want to stress that they are backing off red chip players at this casino. This started well after my ban and is getting more common. Also know that it is a total ban. There are no more bet restrictions, flat betting or anything. It's a straight ban and I was told it's for life. Be careful if it means something to you to play there. There is no casino on earth that is big enough to blend in.

Wow. This was post-covid? They sure have tightened up. At least they were polite about it I guess.

I wonder if your ban applies to their still-playable SP21? :)

I haven't been since COVID, but I did play rated there over the years, and have some pretty large losses on their books. I'm mostly recreational these days anyway though, at least unless I find something special.

Well before Covid and no, I cannot play Spanish 21. The only blackjack game I can play is the $1 table in the Fox Tower, not because it's a dollar but because it's dealt from a CSM.

Eesh. Well, if you live in the area, it's still worth a scout from time to time, there are enough tables (or there were) to have opportunities on other games, as I'm sure you're aware.

Foxwoods just announced that they are setting aside an area for patrons 55 years of age and over. It sounded pretty good when I heard it on the evening news. It's the Rainmaker Casino and, as it turns out, it's only weekends from 10 AM to midnight. They really do care.

I wonder if Foxwoods has any low stakes tables with decent rules, like 5. or 10. dollar minimum.
With less seats at the tables, $15 is the lowest I've seen. No decent rules at these tables. It's 8 deck, H17. The penetration can be good but if you spread enough to have a chance they will be watching. If you want a $10 minimum I've seen them lower a dead game upon request during slow times.

Interesting. If you request that of the dealer, would he have to check with the floor supervisor?
