What stupidity. Just imitating AC, as if AC is the kind of place other casinos should strive to be like. Fat lot of good it did AC, going H17 just accelerated their downward spiral.

Not Philly and not Sands, another one closest to you. Eh, there are other conditions that make this place bad to play though, kind of prefer AC with its variety and choices, despite its crappy rules.
Also there was a $10 S17 at R. in AC last time I was there a few weeks back. Assume there's same at Borg. and maybe Trop. - depending on the phase of the moon or whatever

They are keeping the high limit areas S17. And they haven't finished changing all the felts so there are S17 tables left elsewhere, but they said they should be gone by early next week.

At FW right now and I can confirm that it's true. Two of the four parts already have converted to H17. Sad day. I really hope all the ploppies start going to MS to force them to change it back.
Yes, I think FW is still the preferable game due to pen considerations.

Enough is enough
Just as other orange juice companies reduced the contents of their cartons from 64 to 59 oz. after Tropicana did, I suspect most other casinos in the northeast will follow Foxwoods in switching to H17 - if we let them get away with it. What is called for is the same type of information dissemination that reached all but the ploppiest (or drunkest) of ploppies and basically relegated 6:5 games to party pits and low-level single deck games. People need to be told that switching a typical shoe game from S17 to H17 alone increases the cost to the basic strategy player by approximately 50% (from .41 to .62). If everyone's going crazy over the price of gas increasing by $1 or so, they should really go crazy over this. Let's get the word out!

Some will, especially the first time the dealer hits a soft 17 and winds up with a hand that beats the player.

I recall a solid basic strategy player who had taken out a $3,000 marker getting beaten by a dealer’s three-ace-three-three when she had 18 or 19. That brought the change to her attention, and she was not shy about expressing her displeasure, unfortunately to no effect. I hope she voted with her feet and found a stand 17 game elsewhere, as I did.

At least Pennsylvania is still 3-2 S17 DA2 DAS LS and will remain so for the foreseeable future since they recently rejected modifications to the rules. Any rule changes have to be done through state legislation, which makes the process long and expensive for any individual casino to do. They posted record blackjack revenues last month, so obviously they're making money with just a 0.36% house edge. I have never seen such great rules at low limits in any other place except the El Cortez which has single and double deck with good rules.

That is really unfortunate. I have been playing at FW for a few years as my main casino of choice and it's sad that they have finally decided to go towards the dark side.
I see a SCORE of ~55 for a 6.5/8 H17 DAS LS vs ~45 for a 4/6 S17 DAS LS when playing a wonging game spreading 1-20. Also note that the SCORE for a 6.5/8 S17 DAS LS game is ~57. A large spread combined with wonging mitigates the effect of the H17 to S17 change, as the H17 rule hurts the most in neutral/negative counts.

I have been playing the 8 deck games at Foxwoods and MGM Grand for their good penetration. With the change at Foxwoods, which game is better, the 6 deck S17 at Mohegan Sun with penetration in the mid 60% range or the H17 8 deck at Foxwoods with 80% pen which I can and do find? I can find 75% pen at Mohegan Sun occasionally but I really have to search for it. I did see the SCORE from SlightOfHand but I was wondering if anyone could elaborate.
