HET is the largest player in the game, is it really a surprise they get the most complaints?
As far as Loveman increas8ing his salary from $12 million to $97 million, that was the result of Harrahs going private and forced sale of his stocks. It was not a salary increase. He had to settle all the options he'd earned over the last few years.
Harrahs is very very good to it's intended market, low to mid level slots players.
While I can't confirm anything that shadroch has written, I believe this a lot more than "Evil Empire" propaganda. Large, faceless corporations are just that - a mixture of good and bad and waste and efficiency. Nobody's going to step up and say that HET is angelic, but it seems equally silly to demonize them at every opportunity too.

I agree with you completely. OTOH, HET actually is an evil empire.:)

Friends Don't Let Friends Play at Harrah's

Whining about copyrights and veering TOTALLY off the subject... this is what life is all about on BJINFO sometimes! Okay, I did not copy this off anyone else's gig>>> "Harrah's sucks; Gary Loveman is a complete douche idiot if he is in fact behind the ridiculously stupid practices that Harrah's has taken on in the last few years."

How's that for original? Hmmm... wait a sec here, so many thousands of people have said this that I AM essentially copying it from others. I hope no one copyrighted it. Harrah's (for a while there) sought to buy out every casino on the planet and take over the market, which would be a wonderful way to make new rules as they go--eliminate any competition and then make 6-5 bulls**t the standard! Obviously this failed thus far but it's like I have said previously, if there are enough dummies out there willing to play such a lousy game there will be people out there perfectly willing to provide it to them. Years ago, I used to play at Caesar's a lot (when it was Caesars and not Harrah's)... you could play a chunk of the day at a $25 min table there and get to the tune of about $45 in comp! When it became Harrah's owned this all changed! You earn "points" and a point is about a penny! Now you can play all day in Caesar's and gamble/cycle out thousands and get like... $3.17 if you are lucky, which is less money than one of the tips you dole out along the way! Blackjack there now? HORRIBLE! H17, 8 decks, 6-5, etc... not worth playing unless money means nothing to you and you can afford to lose, you are mentally ill or you are an unsuspecting fool that is unaware that better games, better comps, better service, better everything exist elsewhere.

Harrah's attitude toward the disgruntled players about the crummy comps now offered is "Screw you! You don't like it go play elsewhere, there's PLENTY more marks we can draw in off the streets to fleece for all it's worth and we don't need you ANYWAY! We are the large and mighty Harrah's!" I have taken them up on this advice and don't play there much! These are people I LOVE grinding out of a dollar (Harrah's)... it just gives me a warm tingly feeling all over like I have done something good for humanity or something.

Station Casinos Las Vegas

We received the following in an email today.

Dear Valued Guests,

For 33 years we have taken great pride in being a part of the Southern Nevada community. As a result of following our original business plan of providing our guests with a high-value gaming and entertainment experience with unmatched, friendly service, we have created more than 13,000 jobs, invested billions of dollars in building our properties, and contributed millions of dollars to support charitable organizations in Clark County.

As has been the case with many other fine companies during these difficult economic times, we have found it necessary to take unprecedented steps to preserve and ultimately strengthen our company.

To facilitate the debt restructuring at the parent company level and with the support of our senior secured lenders, our parent company and certain non-casino subsidiaries have filed petitions to reorganize under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. None of our casinos and resorts were included in these voluntary filings and we will continue normal operations at all of our properties under our existing management team.

Our 18 casinos and resorts are open and ready to continue to provide you with the exceptional gaming, dining and entertainment experiences you have come to expect from Station Casinos. Our popular Boarding Pass rewards program, which has been voted the Best Of by the readers of the Las Vegas REVIEW JOURNAL year after year, along with our Amigo and WildCard Clubs, will not be affected. Your points will be honored exactly as they have been in the past and rest assured, your balances are safe.

Today, tomorrow, and for many years to come you can expect what you have always expected from us:
Extraordinary guest service from our dedicated team members. We pride ourselves on having the best in the industry. Its no accident that FORTUNE Magazine named Station Casinos among its 100 Best Companies to Work For four years in a row (2005-2008).
Great value. More than ever there are specials and promotions for you--from our Boarding Pass program, to two-for-one dining offers, to fantastic promotions like this years upcoming Great Giveaway Football Contest.
Great entertainment. All of the great entertainment choices we are known for including incredible restaurants, concerts and lounge acts, great gaming action, movies, bowling and much more.
We appreciate and value our relationship that we have shared with you the last 33 years and it is our promise that we will work harder than ever to keep your business and maintain the respect we have earned from the Las Vegas community since we first opened in 1976.

If you have any questions about our restructuring, or anything to do with Station Casinos, I invite you to go to our website StationCasinos.com or call us to leave your questions or comments toll-free at 866-767-8777. Thank you for your continued patronage and we look forward to seeing you at one of our properties in the near future.
