The BS has been known for a long time and there have been complete counting systems (tags, indices, bet spreads, EVs, SDs, etc.) posted on Wong's GC page for years. I'm sure many people knew it was beatable before it ended up on the internet too. I'm sure its beatability didn't come as a surprise to any of the gurus.
it's sounds like monkey has been playing a beatable SP21 game for awhile.
the problem i see is that i rarely find an SP21 game in my area that you could attack with counting. as time passes it *might* become more popular, but right now there is a lot of competition, superfun, double attack, etc... if you have games in your area go for it, otherwise why learn it?
i think there are two casinos that i play at that have ONE table. i can't remember if either use CSMs. so i never gave it a real thought, others have more options than me, i'm sure.
i wonder if barona valley ranch would let wong play SF21 or SP21? i don't think they let him play BJ
When a pit boss askes me if I play SP21 I tell them (in my cubano Tony Montana accent):
"Shouw know why I don play espanish 21? Because I may be loco, but I'm no pendajo!" zg
I don't think anyone was aware that the effect of removal was higher than in blackjack. Although I agree that probably anyone who knew how beatable it was didn't tell anyone.
