how much do you sit with?

a) I didn't mean to imply that my main goal was comp hustling. If so, I'd buy in bigger.
b) My unit is bigger than $5.

However, I've noticed that as the bet size increases, most people's buyins tend to shrink, when evaluated per unit. At a $5, you'll still see a decent number of people buy in with $100, even if they're just flat betting nickels. (of course, their "emotional bankroll" may be less than $100, but that's still the buyin). However, at tables where people are playing with greens, the buyins are proportionally less. More people seem to be playing "short-stacked". Heck, you still get the occassional chucklehead buying in with $50 at a $25 table.

I don't spend enough time at black chip tables to know what it's like there.

Usally at a $50 dollar table at least where I play at its a $1,000 and up. At a $100 it's usally $2,500 and up.

Yeah, if you buy in more, you may get noticed more. So, do you want to get noticed and get comps, or fly under the radar? No right answer. I just wanted everyone to be aware that there isn't a "right" answer when it comes to buy-ins.

I think if you here trying to get comps it would be better to buy in for a bigger amount then you would be noticed if you wanted to be. They would want to keep you around to try and fry you.

all the time at the $25 tables i see people with maybe 2-4 green chips.

i saw one guy buy in with $30 at a $10 table double it up 3 times then leave.

also kinda funny when people buy in for another $5 in the middle of play with change then rebuy for the next hand after they lose.

at a $5 table i usually buy in for $100.
$100 will last for awhile MOST of the time. once or twice i've had to buy in for a second 100 in one shoe. usually not the case. 100 lasts along time unless you hit a high count quick and it doesn't work out.

buying in for $700 and then betting nickels is a bit recockulous. If you were betting $50 a hand then it would be more reasonable. i'd say 20-40 min bets, except at a few sweatshops, where i'll buy in for 12 units.
