I mean, I don't think it's necessarily wrong, but it's easy to see how someone could say that.

Well, is it ethical to take unfair (but legal) advantage of a casino?

I have a friend, a small "investment banker," who is quite the ploppy martingale man.

He says that, regarding card counters, its unethical to play in a casino where they don't want you - its their house and they clearly don't want you in it - if someone doesn't want you in their house its not right to go in there. Etc.

He's a friend, but a big continuing LOSER! z:laugh:g

Its a good question, its true: they dont want us there but we go anyways.
They publicly challenge the public to beat their games, with us we do and a have a right to play.
I dont know the answer but to quote from Idiocracy "I like money."

They offer the game to the public and establish the rules. We follow their rules. To be mad at us because we don't follow their expected loss pattern, which is never publicized, is hypocritical. Look at their ads. Do they ever mention losing?

To hell with ethics in a casino. I would assume that most of us here are (hopefully) in the business of maximizing profits. If HC'ing, or any other legal AP technique, enables me to increase my profits, then I will do everything I can to take advantage.

The casino is obviously in the business of maximizing profits, and it is a mistake on their part if an employee is not adequately protecting the game. Casinos know the risks they are taking when offering decent games, despite the inherent house advantage. Does a casino think twice before barring AP's to play? NO!

So;
In ALL aspects of life, if someone is offering you a challenge, it's unethical to accept the challenge unless it's unfair to YOU. If you happen to know that you have the ability to meet his challenge, you're a scoundrel.

By this reasoning, it's unethical to accept an invitation to go to someones' house to play poker if you are a better poker player than him. He CLEARLY doesn't want you to outplay him.
-It's obviously unethical for a pro football team to go into another teams' stadium and THEN try to take advantage of any weaknesses they may observe. That team CLEARLY does not want to be beaten.
-If an investment banker comes across an undervalued security, it's unethical for him to advise his client to take advantage of the poor soul who has offered the sale too cheaply.

No WONDER he's a SMALL investment banker. :laugh:

Something pointed out was the fact that casinos don't exactly advertise their losers so much. For every dollar that someone makes out of a casino, there are a string of 99 people that LOST a dollar in that casino. Is it ethical for a casino to be pissed off that they didn't also score that 100th dollar? They have little to whine or complain about and they have little going on in the way of being "ethical"... Is there some sort of double standard that casino patrons must adhere to any sort of ethics? What is your silly friend saying exactly?

Have you ever noticed on TV ads for casinos, it's always slot winners? It's never a table game winner.

If casinos are permitted to exclude APs, they should be required to post house edge on every table game and machine. What's fair is fair.

So what is the lesser of two evils? The house that has the advantage because the game is set up for them to make money or the player who has learned to take away that advantage. It is trully a conundrum for the righteous to decide if that is thier job or calling in life.
