KJ, did i say you didn't know what you were talking about as a 'whole' or did i say you didnt know what you were talking about when it comes to backcounting. Way to show your insecurity though immediately talking about made x amount of money....
Yeah, Ok. I'll accept that criticism. But you are missing the point that when some of us speak (or write), we aren't just winging it. Nor are we speaking strictly from our own experiences. We network and communicate with other players (often very successful) and are leaning on their experiences and expertise as well.

I think your views on backcounting are flat out wrong. Might be advantageous for a recreational or part-time player, but for someone playing fulltime, it is going to shorten longevity...no question. And especially in Vegas. Pit people in Las Vegas are not stupid or naive. They have seen it all and are among the best. Anyone thinking you are going to be tricking or outsmarting these people is severly underestimating their opponent.

Rather than try to "trick" Las Vegas pit personnel, I strongly recommend playing within limits that are better tolerated. THAT is the way to longevity in this city. And I know you do some of that and kudos for doing so. But that mentality of trying to "trick" them via backcounting offsets the other, IMO.

But if it is working for you, kudos. I honestly wish you well. Always have.

You're making no sense now. I didn't say backcounting was the be all end all of getting away with counting in this city. Short sessions is the main thing as well as tolerance levels. Also you're gonna sit and here and tell me being a sitting duck spreading from min to max or even a slight variation of betting camouflage is better than backcounting and spreading 1-4? It's not even close. Both approaches need something else though and short sessions plays right into it, especially for backcounting due to a small spread, small amount of time at the table, and you being out the door in a flash. The pit is gonna be very hesitant to call surveillance on a 1-4 spread in a 30 to 45 minute window, whereas someone spreading 1-20 off the top or even 1-16 is gonna be watched much more closer as well as being exposed much longer at the table with his waiting bets and sticking out like a sore thumb.

Making your top bet at any TC higher than +5 is a total waste of time.

Don
Thanks for your direct help her Don. Its wild that I can have the author of a book I own direct me to the relevant knowledge.

In BJA and my software it was suggesting I hit my max 150$ at around 4.
It is apparent that I have been severely underbetting this game and my bankroll. Luckily I've been in a violent bout of positive variance. Very well could have gone badly. The sad thing is if I had been betting correctly I would be somewhere around 10k up instead of a mere 5k last week.

I adjusted my betting for another session last week and had a big down swing. This double deck game is now too expensive for my BR.

It was never apparent to me that there was a huge difference between BACKCOUNTING up to +1 and playing from the top of a shoe and dropping out when it goes negative. The numbers show in my sim.

I've switched up my game, downsized, and began playing on 6D with true back counting. The two sessions I've played in this way have been successful in the short term.

Lesson learned. Dont be afraid to reach out. Thank you guys for your scrutiny.

Also for bonus points can anyone here shed some light on optimal departure? From what I understand it is more likely that one will find a better shoe than to continue backcounting one that has hit -1 at around half the shoe? I read Dons article but some of the math went right over my head.

Forget the math; it's over everyone's head! :) Just do what it says.

ZenKing, your track record speaks for itself. Your only problem is that you play too often in rigged casinos and during rigged holidays. LOL. Come on man, knock over the DD games in So Cal. Even you must get tired of the bed bugs sometime.
