John Patrick basic strategy

I have a dvd by John Patrich who shows the correct way to play blackjack.You never split 88s and aces against against the dealer's 9,10 and ace. If he has one of these as his up card, than he has a strong hand. You should surrender 8-8 when dealer has 10. Treat the AA as 12 if the dealer has 7,8,9,10 and ace. If you split the A A and end up with two babies,you'll be up **** creek. You are allowed 1 card for each A. If you have A-2 and A -5,you can't double down against the dealer's 7,8,9,an and A. Use the aces has 12, and than hit,you have a better chance of winning. It depend what's on the table. If more babies than 9,10, and A,stand.More babies hit.

John Patrick is a total fraud. If you are just getting started, torch whatever material of his you have and start over.

Let's make Basic Strategy CLEAR

I have to say that you're wrong about the splitting 8's in the face that Basic strategy is CLEAR that you always split 8's unless there is a True Count deviation. And for AA you ALWAYS split AA! You'd have to be crazy not to! Its proven math. Always split 8's and A's unless there is a deviation!

If you are card counting, and the count is +14 surrender the 17 if the dealer has a strong up card, which is 9,10 and A. doublle on 11 if the the dealer has an A, but hasno blackjack. Double on 8 if the dealer has 15 or 16. I double on 7 if the count is high. I split 10s if am drunk.

Not necessarily true. In 6Deck H17 game you would just hit the 8,8 vs A, but other than that you always do.

Katweezeel, can you prove Patrick is a mole? Where is the evidence? If the TC = -3 or -4, you should hit aces - especially if the dealer is holding 9, 10 or Ace. At T = 0, Aces should be split against everything because this is is an offensive move?

I think Uston states to surrender 8,8 vs X or A in his Million Dollar BJ book written over 25 years ago.

John Patrick's job might have been a pitboss a long time ago.

Patrick's website continually reinforces the message that the dealer's average total is 18.5 and he keeps stating get more money on the table when the dealer has a upcard that makes him/her in trouble. Well the reality Mr Patrick - is that unless the TC = 3 or 4, the dealer's bust rate on 5,6 will always be under 50% - at TC = 0, the average bust rate for 5 and 6 are 42% and 43% respectively. He also encourages splitting 5s - what kind of lunatic would split 5s?

Experienced, respected dudes have already commented in this thread. If you search, you will find more in the archives. I could be wrong. Perhaps he does not promote disinformation... Perhaps several years ago he didn't produce a casino gambling CD shot inside a casino using empty casino tables and female casino dealers. Perhaps his book is worth reading... perhaps not.

QFIT's recent book contains the latest BJ info anyone could need. Reliable, truthful, informed, trustworthy info, written by someone you can trust. Do you need more than that?

Yes, you do need more than that. As good as QFITS book is, you'd be a fool if you didn't explore the rest of the world of published BJ books.There are quite a few things to be learned that are either ignored or just touched upon by this book.
Again, it's a great reference book, but to imply that it's the only book one needs is simply wrong, imho.

When you have 5-5 against the dealer's 5
When you double against the dealer's 5 ,let say $100, you put up only one $100 more for the double ,but if you split the 5-5,you must put up two $100,one for each card. If you get a 6 on the first card,and a 4 on the second card, 5-6 5-4. and double one both hands,you will get paid more money in the long run, if the dealer goes over. And you will know how sweet it is.

I got Patrick's book long time ago and huh, was the only thing I could say. I would have to say in the least that he wrote a book that only a ploppy could appreciate.

Seriously ...

John Patrick's book (on various casino games) are among the only ones that I have ever seen for sale in casino gift shops.

That is because the books are all filled with bad advice, certain to increase the casino's bottom line.

And yes, I have skimmed through his books and I know of what I speak.

Harry1941 = John Patrick?

What happens when the dealer doesn't go over with a 5 up? Which is more likely than him busting. You will know how sour that is.
