I am not a big gambler but I just recently played some blackjack on golden palace and enjoyed it. Now I am trying to learn more so that I can play a little every month. If you have any tips for a beginner I am happy to listen.

Advise

I have played alot both online and land based. I have won alot and lost alot! Most of my losses are from staying too long! My advise - know basic strategy well and win alittle each day. Don't be greedy. Settle for a 10 to 30% return each time you play. If you strictly just want to play for fun just bet very small amounts. Partypoker.com has blackjack with a minimum of a nickel! I have noticed it seems that online strange things happen - many double downs result in a very small hit card and it is not always wise to hit on 16s when playing online. In other words be cautious and mix it up a little when playing online. It also seems sometimes online you will have runs of consistent loosing hands and runs of really good winning hands rather than just a back and forth game.

Good Luck!

As long as you play at reputable on-line casinos, there's no question about the legitamacy of the outcomes. I've played MANY thousands of hands over the last few months and my loss rate is right on target. And yes, you will lose when playing basic strategy perfectly; that's just the way it works.

My advice is to play at a casino that offers a cashable bonus with a low wagering requirement and make small bets so you don't lose much of the bonus. It's not terribly fun and it doesn't even feel like gambling but it's a good way to make some extra cash. Once you've used up all the sign-up bonuses, you'll just need to get a little creative. ;)

I doubt there is anything in that book that is not available for free on the forum. There is no secret to online play, play for bonuses and when you've met the WR stop playing.
