Ken, share your thoughts on TIPPING...

That's a town in China, right?

No, seriously, I do tip more often than not.

I usually tip $1 or $2 at a time, even when playing green to low black. If I'm playing a bigger game, I'll tip in red chips. I try to keep it under control, and worst case in a mediocre game I may tip away up to 20% of my theoretical win rate, usually much less.

Tipping a relatively small amount can cut both ways. You can look even cheaper than someone who stiffs the dealer who may be seen as someone who doesn't know to tip. However, I do think tipping can improve longevity if you're playing at a place often enough to be recognized there.

I try to get maximum advertising value out of my tips, by placing them when the pit is around, and also trying to time them for dealer changes so both dealers see the tip.

As I was the cause of some,if not much of the heat,I'd just like to apologize ,and have elected to stay out of furher discussion of the matter.
I do,however,have a question on tipping.
I have seen people put up an extra tip when splitting or
doubling down. Can you put up a tip as you DD if one was not there before. If I'm betting $10,can I put up another$10 plus a 1 tip on my 11vs6?Or must a tip be put up with your original wager?

here's how its done - perfect for big tippers - you hold 16 vs. 7 - you double for less and tell the dealer that the second amount is for her. zg

I've done that before ZG. To the original question....no, I've never seen a casino that would allow putting out at toke for the dealer after the cards were dealt other than matching an existing toke on a split or double. Now, another way to toke is to place a chip behind your bet. It's not "in play" and if you win, you can toss it or bet it on the next hand.
