Match play on craps

I just thought of this. If I have a match play coupon, I bet it plus cash on the dont pass bar, then remove just the coupon off the dont pass bar and root for the 7. Keep doing it until a 7, 11, 2 or 3 on the come out roll when the coupon would be lost.

If casinos always allow chips to be taken off the dont pass bar, would they also allow the coupon to be taken off the dont pass bar?

I don't know if they would let you pick up the coupon or not. They allow you to pick up your chips because at that point the odds are in your favor. I am not sure picking up the coupon is really best since you are favored to win at that point.

Got it Backwards?

Tensplitter, if you're taking the coupon away when the point is established, what situation are you waiting for to double up on?

Just like David said, the house has the odds stacked against you if you're looking for the come-out for natural winners (3:8). Once you've got a point on the Don't Pass, you're in the driver's seat. Making it through the comeout is the hard part on the darkside.

good luck :joker:

Another idea would be to play the MP on the pass line, as we've discussed in 2 previous threads, which has a higher expectation than the don't. It seems like you may be trying to find a different angle, with the idea about pulling down the MP on the don't, but that would be -EV. Otherwise, bet + MP on the pass. Simple.

Check the fine print. When it comes to craps, the match play coupons I receive are good for a PASS LINE BET ONLY!!!!

That is a good point, although a fair amount in my experience allow them to be used on any even-money line bet, which have applied to both (not sure about the Come/DC bets or the Field because of the potential for a double/triple). Perhaps that is something up for the boxman's interpretation...

An interesting aside about the MPs...a friend and I did a hit-and-run $25 doey-don't (at different ends of the table), each with an MP coupon. Considering that only a 12 on the come-out would have stung us, seeing that 11 right away was a relief. A quick $25 right there. Worked well enough that the wife and I have done it a couple other times elsewhere, but didn't have the instantaneous payout from a natural. But if a point is established, it's easy money except for the waiting.

good luck :joker:

Considering the match play coupon as a loss rebate, I'd play the match play at a -ev situation (the come out roll on the dont pass bar) and remove it at a +ev situation (after the point is established). The advantage would come from the increased payout for a 2 or 3 on the come out.
