Hello! I just wanted to get acquainted with the blackjack forum. I've only been playing BJ for a couple weeks and have come out on top every time (probably just pure luck), but I am trying to improve my game. I know bs and play at a casino with these rules/requirements: 6D, S17, DA2, DAS, $5-$200 CSM.
I was just curious if anyone could lead me in another direction and/or give me tips on how to improve. I'm not looking to rake in 1g a night or anything, just coming out on top is awesome enough for me. My bank roll is about $300. If there is any other information you would like to know or have any questions regarding me or how I play, please post. Thanks a lot, -Brian.

PS: I am looking for full on explanations if possible, I am unfamiliar with all the acronyms. Thanks again!

First, this post will not be as extensive or detailed as you are hoping.

This thread has links to other threads/sites with explanations of various abbreviations.

Unfortunately, $300 is not a lot in the blackjack world. You'll need a bankroll of thousands of dollars. Unless of course your money is replenishable, but even then, be prepared to still be required to have thousands available.

You must learn basic strategy, first. zg

Do you think your ready to enter the world of card-counting?
If so, I recommend you go with KO or Hi-lo as you save up for your Bankroll

If all you have access to is CSM (CONTINUOUS shuffle machine, where the dealer reloads the cards into a machine after every round or two or three) game, then dont waste time learning to count, you cannot count these games.

Thanks

Thanks guys, although I can see some of you did not read everything I wrote. I'm still looking for more knowledge outside of card counting. Thanks again -Brian

simulation games like Casino Verite are helpful. time yourself counting through 1 deck. try to get it in 30s or better. then try 25. then 20.

there are different brain exercises and techniques that helped me count faster. i can tell u what i did if ur interested. also play music in the background when u count. then try to count in front of a tv. then both. then even try to sing along with the music while counting.

if you're going to buy a book, everybody recommends Professional Blackjack

$300 is very low. you're risk of loosing it all is very high. you should have at least $1000 and only play at $5 or $10 minimum tables. id recommend figuring out how to reduce your risk of ruin and figure out your betting strategy before entering a casino again. 1 strategy is to only play when the true count is at +1 or better. if you dont have the patience then 0 or better

I would suggest to learn to be more patient. Patience pays off in blackjack and I don't think it's a good idea to "cheat" yourself by saying, "oh playing on this count won't hurt, it's only one lower." Just take a deep breath and wait. It'll pay off in the end.

But that's just me.

alright

I held my tongue last time, but it seems that with a CSM you cannot count cards, thus I cannot use that to my advantage. Read the OP ffs. Thanks for those who actually read it. <3

While I hold the same opinion (dammit people read the OP before posting! ), I think you'll get more helpful people to help you if you're nicer than you need to be.

You'll also get better responses if you're more specific about what you're looking for and then post in the corresponding forum. General is mostly for run-of-the-mill blackjack questions; counting threads get moved to Counting and things like holecarding and shuffle tracking are best discussed in Advanced Play. If you have specific questions about a casino, post it in the regional forums.

One thing that was posted earlier that wasn't further commented on is that $300 is a really small bankroll for anything, even $3 flat bets. Whatever you want to do, you'll do better by saving up more money to start - $1,000 to $5,000.

Take your $300.

Buy a bj simulator (Casino Verite is the one you want, IMO).

Buy some books (ask and you shall get responses, this board is very helpful).

Buy a discard tray.

Buy a shoe.

And a whole bunch of cards.

If you can't spend $300 on this stuff then you can't spend $300 on a losing night (and believe me it will happen).

Do what the books tell you to do.

Start saving.

And most importantly, practice.

try this

You should try the blackjack bluebook II by renzey it has some advanced techniques which might be what your looking for that arent counting. I also believe there are books dedicated to advanced techniques completely aside from counting. On another note Mr. Renzey is a member of this site and is very quick to respond to any questions you might have.
