Just a quick opinion from any one of the wizards. If I am playing SD with a 1-4 spread and I hit a BJ with a 2 bet, would it be OK for me to parlay the 5 unit bet or better to take the skim and keep the next bet at my max. 4? BJ Bob

I would depend on a couple of VERY RELEVENT factors - 1) Do you know basic strategy; 2) Whats the count? If you honestly ansewr "no" or "I don't know" to either or both, then you should take the 5u and leave the table and never play BJ again. Or at least until you dow really know basic strategy. zg

I think the parlay is a reasonable-looking play, so I don't think it would be a problem.
If you're playing at a place that you think would give you grief over a 1 to 5 spread instead of 1 to 4, maybe the extra bet isn't worth it. But I bet you're not concerned about a specific casino, and instead are trying to generally stay at 1 to 4. In that case, I don't think an occasional 5-unit bet would raise any red flags.

(I moved this thread from another forum, since the original post used the word 'spread'. I assume he's counting.)

Ha! I'm so used to the meaningless type of question in the other forum that I over-looked his use of "spread". On the assumption that BJBob was counting, NO it was not 'over-the-top' on general principal if the count was right, but that's where the 'poker-art of counting comes in - knowing the pit and awareness of the scrutiny, if any. I've bet the full BJ win often, but I've also reduced my bet after the BJ even with a monster count, often, as well. There are no hard and fast rules for it. zg

Re: BJ Parlay

Just to clarify my first post regarding parlaying a 2 unit BJ payoff. Some background...I DO count.Use the Revere APM with Ace side count .More specifically I'm playing alot in Reno w/SD&DD.This particular situation pertains when the RC is high(+3>) and deck still Ace rich.As far as heat there is no one watching in pit at the time, but would like to know your opinion for either scenario. Thanks, BJ
