Well first things first.

1. Whats the difference between Multi-pass and RA indexe's?

2. Does speed/accuracy affect these Indice's?

3. Does Both Multi-pass, and RA, need to be checked?

4. Does a full-report, create more accurate indices?

5. Do the rules in the Main-Menu, have a effect on the indices?

6. Why is the Simulation for RA indices set to 150 million rounds by Default?

Im trying to create the Most Accurate, RA, Indexe's using Multi-Pass.

"Multi-Pass" indices?? Whats that? "Toss me a bone, people. I'm the boss, need the info!" - Dr. (zen)Evil
I dont know:confused:

Theres so many, buttons, gadgets, foot pedals, widgets, & levers, with CVdata, I dont know where to begin. I had to shut it down earlier tonite, when I smelt somethin burnin, and smoke started coming out of the back of my computer. I need a manual, just to know how to read the manual.

my answers in CAPS below your questions. Norm, please chime in if Im mistaken anywhere...

1. Whats the difference between Multi-pass and RA indexe's?
MULTI-PASS IS JUST 2 RUNS OF THE INDEX GENERATION PROCESS. CVDATA WILL RUN A SIMULATION USING BASE INDICES (OR MAYBE JUST BS), AND GENERATE INDICES USING THE STANDARD DEVIATIONS FROM THAT SIMULATION. THEN IT WILL RE-RUN ANOTHER SIMULATION USING THE NEWLY GENERATED INDICES TO GET NEW STANDARD DEVIATIONS. THESE NEW STANDARD DEVIATIONS WILL BE USED IN A SECOND AND FINAL ROUND OF INDEX GENERATION. HENCE, SINCE YOU ARE GENERATING MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF INDICES, IT IS CALLED MULTI-PASS. BUT THEY ARE STILL RISK-AVERSE.

2. Does speed/accuracy affect these Indice's?
YES, THE MORE ACCURATE, THE MORE ROUNDS EACH SIM RUNS TO GET MORE ACCURATE STANDARD DEVIATIONS. THE MORE ROUNDS, THE SLOWER THE GENERATION.

3. Does Both Multi-pass, and RA, need to be checked?
ONLY IF YOU WANT TO GENERATE (TECHNICALLY) MORE ACCURATE INDICES DO YOU NEED TO CHECK THE MULTI-PASS OPTION. SEE MY EXPLANATION UNDER #1.

4. Does a full-report, create more accurate indices?
NO, I BELIEVE IT JUST LISTS OUT ALL THE INDEX DECISIONS AND THE EV'S FOR THE NUMBERS AROUND AN INDEX SO YOU CAN CHECK HOW CVDATA IS CHOOSING THE PROPER INDEX. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACCURACY OF THE INDEX GENERATION.

5. Do the rules in the Main-Menu, have a effect on the indices?
ABSOLUTELY! SO DOES PENETRATION AND NUMBER OF DECKS.

6. Why is the Simulation for RA indices set to 150 million rounds by Default?
NO CLUE....

Im trying to create the Most Accurate, RA, Indexe's using Multi-Pass.
THEN CHECK RA, MULTI-PASS, AND WHATEVER THE MOST ACCURATE OPTION YOU ARE GIVEN (I CANT REMEMBER THE NAME OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD) UNDER THE ACCURACY SECTION.

I appreciate you taking the time, to post and explain that. Not only does it help me, it helps others as well. I dont care what they say about you Rukus, your a stand-up guy...lol

Rukus' answers are all correct. I'd only add that Multi-Pass I implemented because I'm obsessional. It's highly unlikely that it will add enough to make a nickel of difference over a year.

In regards, to Question #6

In the Main Menu>Set-up

When the simulator is set to CVIndex, by default, it will run this many Rounds for Risk Averse indices: These cannot be changed.

a)Quick and Dirty=150,000,000
b)Standard=300,000,000
c)Greater Accuracy=500,000,000
d)Beat to Death=700,000,000

On a seperate note, does anyone know if the Betting Section can be skipped?
a) In the Manual it says this section can be skipped,(irrelevant) In effect, implementing the 1-15 spread, by default. For example, would the indices be affected if I manually selected flat-betting?

i do not think betting strategy chosen affects the indices, BUT i have never tried to use anything but a flat-bet. What DOES affect your indices though is what you set for the TC you make your "max bet" at on the Index set-up page. not sure how big a difference it makes, but for what it's worth, i've always use the default of 6, as this is pretty much a happy medium between the different spreads/games i play.

maybe norm can field this question better than i could...

CVIndex does not sim BJ in the normal sense. The number of rounds you are referring to are for the RA pre-sim. It is used only to calculate standard deviations for the calculation of risk-aversion. The actual number of hands sampled during index generation is in the billions and varies according to the specific index, the count and true count calculation method.

The betting section can be ignored.

Thank's thanks, and thank's. :) By george, I think im gettin it.

Its easy enough, to generate a set of indice's, but some of the details can be a little confusing at first. I wanted to familiarize myself, with the program first, before I set down and read and studied the manual.

There's just one or two more question I may have:p

1. I noticed when, RA is checked, the additional indice option's for H17&S17,DAS,etc, becomes disabled.
a)Does this mean its Generating Compromised indices for H17vsS17, NDASvsDAS? Average.

2. If I wanted to generate one set of indices JUST for DAS. It seems that I have to, generate the NDAS first, before I can generate the DAS. Same goes for H17.
a) Is this the case?

No. The rules on the rules page are used. Those options allow automatic generation for multiple rules at once. It is not supported in RA mode because multiple pre-sims would have to also be run. Too messy.
