Shoe entry

Just for a topic of discussion. When I recently went to the casino, I was circling the floors and backcounting. A PB took notice of me while I was watching a fresh shoe be dealt with 2 other people at the table. I just smiled and it didn't seem to be that big of a deal. About a couple rounds later, the count went to about +3 so I sat down and bought in for 200. Maybe 2 or 3 hands went by and I began to play 2 hands of about $50. Then the paint starts hitting the felt...PB is still watching and I felt that he knew I was backcounting because a lot of the 10's hit as soon as I sat down. I just thought I was being paranoid, but would you saying something like "O wow...good thing I came in when I did" or something dumb like that to try and play it off. I can't get backed off in AC anyway so I guess it aint a big deal.

To me, that's the type of stuff that I like to do...give off that feeling of a "hunch player" or a "lucky player" IF you feel the heat is on. If nobody is breathing down your neck, no biggie.

I look at it like the words of advice in an Ocean's Eleven scene, where Clooney is essentially telling Damon to be personable, but not memorable. Not sure if you can see my connection with your question, but my point in a situation like that is to play it off as a "gambler" without leaving an impression. As if that makes sense. ;)

Obviously, if you run into this situation several times in the same casino on the same day, your "luck" will likely be of heightened suspicion.

good luck

Maybe you should try a disguise:

Either you were being too obvious about backcounting or you were doing it for too long in the same pit…or maybe you’re just paranoid. :) If the pit boss didn’t give you any obvious heat then you’re fine. If he did, just disappear and let him cool off for a while. Check out a different pit or casino. Buying in for $200 shouldn't even get you on their radar, and a few $50 bets won't set off any alarms. When you're backcounting, spend some times watching the other players at the table. You can learn a lot about their mannerisms just by observing them few a while. Before long, you’ll fit right in.

Ocean's 11,12,13...my favorite series. I know exactly what part you are talking about. And I didn't play it off as a gambler at all. I just sat there when the cards came out and didn't say a word...Mostly just a dumb look on my face like I was standing under a bright light hoping not to be noticed.

I pretty sure I am very obvious when I backcount. ha...I'll probably try working on that one or just bring a friend because it's a lot easier when your walking around with someone.
