Site change: Software update, sidebar, forum changes

A few items today:
The message board software was updated, so please report any issues.

You'll notice the sidebar now follows you throughout the message board area. The "Bookmark" is therefore available on all subpages, and the chat notifications are more visible.

Also, the Site Announcements forum is now moderated, and we'll be using it more exclusively for just announcements about the site and events. Feel free to make appropriate posts to this forum, but be aware that posts do not appear immediately but are instead approved by a moderator.

More general news and site discussions should now be carried out in the News forum in the Miscellaneous area. We'll try this system out for a bit and see how it works.

As for replying to the threads currently under the Site Announcements forum (formerly News and Announcements), feel free to do so and we'll move the threads to the new forum as appropriate.

I cleaned up most of the posts in this forum since June, and have relocated many to new homes in:
The "Site Discussion" forum
The "News" forum

If you're looking for a thread that you expected to find here, check those.
Critiques of the new forum designations are welcome in the Site Discussion forum. :)

Replies to threads were initially being moderated here, but they are no longer.

For the Site Announcements forum, posts of new threads are moderated, but replies will immediately appear without moderation.

Some posts may still be relocated as new threads under Site Discussion as appropriate. Examples are the two discussions that ensued under this thread, which now appear at Site Discussion: "Sidebar visibility" and "Quote Problems since upgrade".
