Sitting out til the count is positive...........

Saturday night, packed can't even get a seat at the 50,000won ($39 US) table. So standing around waiting like everyone else. So just doing some backcounting and I notice really quick that a guy on 3rd base just sits out when the count goes negative, not just wonging out to go to take a bathroom break or anything like that, just sitting out the hands at the table.

So another guy waiting to play asks him if he isn't going to play, why doesn't he let someone else sit down, as all the tables are full. The player just tells him that he is playing, and that he will choose what hands he wants to play. Needless to say the table nor the people standing behind the table were happy. I was really surprised that the dealer and the pit boss allowed him to sit out of the hands so much. Only thing I could figure was maybe he lost a lot of money already, so the pit boss didn't care.

Has anyone here been able to get away with playing like this?

I share your veiws on this.

Call it 'subjective opinion' or just poor judgment from the pit; IDK, but if theres players waiting in line, to play, someone should of said something. I mean what if he was only playing a couple of hands per hour? When and where do you draw a line?

Many casinos, especially in Las Vegas, will NOT permit you to play any hands during a DOUBLE DECK in which you missed a single hand.

If you miss one hand, you cannot play any more hands until the following shuffle.

IF you are naive enough to complain, they will tell you that it is "no mid shoe entry" and if you stop for one hand or many hands you are then attempting "entry"

Obviously repeated attempts at this will draw the unwanted attention of the Pit Boss and, of course, surveillance.

There may be some casinos in Vegas that do that but not all. I've done it and I've seen others sit out a hand or more and never one word about coming back into the game during the same shoe.

I have never had a problem sitting out a few hands from time to time on shoe games.

Many casinos allow this in my parts, one permits you to sit out one hand per shoe.

In doubledeck, this is generally enough, since that game often has all 7 boxes being played.

If I'm winning of coarse I'm not going to sit out as it would look funny but if the dealer starts pulling 21's or if I start losing 4 or 5 hands in a row in a negative shoe I'll sit out and watch until it goes positive. I'll just say the cards are bad and need to change things up. But if the count goes positive at the very end of the shoe I'll just wait until the next one. It's tempting coz that's where most of the money will be made but I think that would draw too much attention.

If you're playing low stakes it is extremely ill advised to let those opportunities pass.

Sounds like a bad situation for all involved. This situation does not lend itself to AP play. However the player who did not get up has a set of balls, if he is an AP, nice move......but at a full table......not for me.

I think what InPlay was referring to was the fact that the casino the original poster was referring to is likely in Korea (Since it was a 50,000 Won minimum, Won being the currency of Korea).

I'd suggest you wait until a seat is available and do the same lol.

Yes we do have the inadequately funded, with crazy and undisciplined spreads that make no sense, crying about losing a max bet in a +12 count, a bet that exceeds their bet in a +5 count where one might normally expect a max bet to occur, for a +12 count that never really occurs anyway, sometimes spreading to 3 hands to boot, and then crying about it.

They are probably the very same players sitting behind this guy begging to get in when he's not playing so they can lose all their money.

I just can't imagine this guy did not know exactly what he was doing.

But would welcome any more detail on his observed betting pattern from an observer who counts etc lol. I'd like to assume, if he is this good to begin with, he knows how much roll to bring etc.

This from a guy who likes belts and suspenders to go with his tight-fitting pants over 2 pair clean underwear just in case of an accident :grin:

Edited to add, a pure back-counter, like I imagine this guy to be, will never, ever, be playing a TC that has a -EV attached to it anyway.
