Strategy trainer and counting

#1
Is the strategy trainer on this site a good way to get a picture of what to expect at a table? If I count the exact same way and play perfect BS like I do on the trainer can I expect similiar results in a casino?

I have been recordering myself playing it (hands, amount won/lost, win percentage, etc...) using a KO count with 6 decks, hit soft 17, double on 9,10,11

Just wondering if anyone uses the Strategy trainer on this site as a practice tool....

I played many thousands of hands on the trainer while practicing my playing and counting. It's worth doing.

Yes and no. Counting will work for both the trainer and the casino. But you'll be in the short run for both of them, so the results might be wildly different just due to variance.

What if I'm practicing with thousands of hands on the trainer? Wouldn't that show a resemblance to playing thousands of hands for real? I'm just trying to understand what you mean by short run

A better way to go might be trying to understand the long run. Although some on the board have expressed opinions that the long run cannot be achieved in one's lifetime, even playing fulltime for years, I disagree. I have always put the long run at 50,000 hands. I have always found that by 50,000 hands my results tend to fall pretty close to expectation. So, as you can see, a thousand hands in definately short run. You can play perfectly for a few thousand hands and the results be VERY different from expectation.
