Target time to count a full table

Casino Verite provides a drill to practice counting a full table of cards. You can choose starting hands, full hands, and a few other options.

What is a good target time to shoot for when getting the running count by glancing at the starting hands on a full table?

*Assuming that was sarcastic and not possible*

 Perfect, it's only taking me one second so I should be alright. Thanks, just needed some validation.

*Assuming that was serious*

how long

Im serious. Thats approx how long it should take you-no longer if you want to be a serious backcounter. I can glance at table, and with cancelling of cards, it shouldnt take you any longer or you are too obvious. Read Schlesingers classic article on backcounting the shoe game.

Work on counting pairs of cards & 3-6 cards at a time. With time you won't even notice the card values but just the count of each set of cards.

Think canceling pairs or groups of cards.

And GolfNut's 2-3 seconds is a serious answer. The goal is to get a count with a brief glance at a table full of cards.

Well, even though it may not be the answer I was hoping for, thanks for the help guys. Looks like I have quite a bit of practicing ahead of me! Takes me like 20 seconds to get the RC on a full table right now

Somebody is seriously misunderstanding something here. Maybe it's me.

You should be able to count down an entire deck in 20 seconds. A full 7-spot table with 2 cards per player is only 14 cards. It can't possibly take you 20 seconds to count 14 cards, can it?

ha, no Canceler, I think it's more that I just started the full table drills last night and had not counted cards in pairs before then. I think as I become more familiar with which cards cancel each other out and improve my deck counting times (still at 30-35 seconds) I'll get better at getting the full table RC. Hopefully hitting this 2 - 3 second mark eventually

forget the drills...practice at the casino if possible (while watching)...and, as stated, cancel, cancel, cancel and not just pairs (10&2) but HANDS too (10/A & 2/5)...no way 20 secs...should be a brief glance and then look away (at the hot waitress, tv, dealer)

When the hand is over and the dealer starts to pick up the cards, they always scoop them starting with 3rd base, working their way around to 1st. Until you GET to the point where you can just glance at the table & get the count in 2-3 seconds, you should ALSO start counting from 3rd base to 1st. This will buy you a couple of extra seconds, while the dealer is scooping.

It doesn't matter how fast you do it. What you should be more concerned about is doing it accurately.

If you can accurately count every card before they're scooped up, you're doing fine.
