TKO Math

So, I memorized all the TC tables from KO Rob's chart long ago (adjusted to my IRC of +10 for a 6D game). I now have 8 sets of 5 numbers burned into my subconscious: one set of 5 numbers (representing each deck played) for each True Count from TC -2 to TC +5. The numbers have been second nature to me for a while now.

But now I'd like to understand the math behind the numbers.

Assume the standard 6D KO IRC of -20 has been adjusted to +10.

Then let's say the current RC in a game is 26 with 2 decks played. I know from my memorization that the TC is +2. But the following standard formula doesn't work:

TC = RC minus decks played divided by decks unplayed.

Using the above formula equals TC +6, not TC +2--what am I doing wrong?

Best regards,

FD

Just a wild guess...

I don’t know much about TKO, but I’m not going to let that stop me. :)

Seems like you’d have to adjust for your IRC not being zero. So, -10 in your case.

Also seems like you’d have to adjust for the average of 4 sevens per deck that KO counts, but HiLo doesn’t. In your case 4 x 2 decks = 8.

(26 -10 - 8) / 4 decks remaining = 2

The Formula

Canceler,

You've got it. I just discovered this formula in an old post by 21forme on how to TC convert a KO RC:

TC = (RC-IRC-(4*#deckplayed))/#decksremain.

(I think you see why I chose to memorize the 8 sets of tables instead.)

Here's the original post for those who are interested:
