Never mind. Can't really say what I want to say.

You impressed me though and that doesn't happen too often.

I would have definitely stuck around to see how long they lasted. You never know, maybe they got away with it for a while. I'd bet there isn't much difference between a 1-10 spread and 1-35+ spread there. A big spread is a big spread.

Incidentally, I was surprised I lasted as long as I did when we were in town, they let me spread 1-5 at single deck for almost two hours while I waited for my haircut upstairs. Neat little barber shop, too!

Why did you play the single deck at El Cortez?
The double deck there is a better game.

Tiny, just 10-50. The lady pit boss eventually came over with me at like a stack and a half of green in for $300 and said play something else.

I played the single deck because I figured I might not get a chance to for a long time, but yeah, I could see the double deck being a valid thing to play there.

Bigplayer once said something stat stuck with me about increasing longevity. I'll put it in my own words since i can't remember his exact words.

Identify the best game in the casino and then play the second best.

It doesnt work everywhere because some places are just sweaty. But you would be surprised how many places hawk their top game and are more tolerant on others.

this is something that I had to learn the hard way in the last year or so.It's great advice. In places I have done this (sometimes by accident) i've had way less issues than in places I always went for the best game.

Yeah this seems legit -- and I assume the Cortez is just sweaty regardless, I was planning on getting a tap in under 30 minutes to be honest, and partly was doing it because I wanted to experience being backed off one time just for the validation. But does that mean the shoe dealt 3:2 all over Las Vegas is relatively playable then?

In Vegas, most second best games are 6:5 :)
Then you are playing at the WRONG casinos. No wonder you don't like Vegas. :p

El Cortez IS sweaty, hence the nickname. I recently saw them backoff a dude spreading $5-25. :D

Despite having just said that, my experience has been that most players don't understand EC. I play there several times a week and have had no problems in about 7 years since Maurice "Mo" retired. The key is you have to identify what is and isn't tolerated and stay within their comfort range/level. This has to do with betting limits, spreads and length of session, and no this doesn't mean you have to play $5-$20. This "identifying what is tolerated" is how I play everywhere, but EC, it is mandatory.

And what is tolerated by one pit person may be very different than what is tolerated by another. Take Dragon Lady for example. Yes, please....somebody take her somewhere else. lol.

I'm tremendously curious about specifics here if you're willing to share, but obviously understand that this is your livelihood and you might not be able to answer totally: What do you spread at the EC and for what, 15 minutes at a time?

Also is the Dragon Lady a diminutive Asian woman? I think we saw her briefly, but it was a taller blonde lady who ended up telling me "no más."

Finally, who the hell wants to play 6:5? I ended up accidentally playing it at Mohegan at some point this year and discovered it was a 6:5 table when my first hand was a natural! I was so pissed I ended up filling out the survey negatively afterwards and they sent me a comped meal!

I already post WAY too much about my specifics at EC, so I can't go any further. I do play very short sessions there. Living in Vegas, sometimes I just swing by on my way to or from somewhere else.

Dragon lady is an older Asian lady. Works weekend day shift among other times. There is another younger thin, Asian female that is even worst. She is very sharp. I don't even attempt to play with her.

The chunky blond, I have never had a problem with. She is a pretty hard drinking alcoholic, so if you get her towards the beginning of her shift in the mornings, she doesn't want to be bothered doing much.

Ironically that's exactly when we had her -- the way my fiancee described it, she looked like Mimi Bobeck from the Drew Carey show, makeup and all. I guess the fact that we were liberally consuming beverages and slapping high fives for blackjacks might have more to do with it in that case, one less pair of people hooting, hollering, and reminding her she can't drink in her pit would presumably be an improvement. Also, like I said, two hours, I told this to a friend and he laughed at how long I'd lasted...guess that explains it!

My main store in AC is giving me Fridays again now that it's winter, but after experiencing the wonderland conditions in Vegas it's tough to want to go back to 8-deck H17...

Well I don't know anything about her drinking in the pit while working so I don't want to go there. Although I never smelled what is in her "coffee" cup in the morning. ;)

I also think the "Mimi" reference is a bit harsh. She isn't THAT bad, although it wouldn't take all that much. :D
