To Use Players Cards?

#1
Hi all,

I am new to this and trying to get proficient at counting and what-not, but I have an operational question.

It seems to me like a players card at a casino is asking them to track your winnings and eventually bar you from the game.

Do most of you who count regularly use players cards?

Thanks,
Rogue

For most players, using a players card will get you much more than it will cost you. My next trip in September, I have eight free nites, $150 in free slot play, about the same in food comps and a few match plays- all from marketing offers.

Your observation is 100% correct, at least in regards to full-time players. But if you're betting big money and you DON'T get rated, that fact alone will ALSO raise suspicion; so it's sort of a catch-22 situation. There are various solutions to this problem, most of them will only buy you a little more time. There can be creative ways to rathole chips. Some of us use multiple players cards. Most TEAMS have to use expendable BP's; after they've won enough money at one place they have to fire them from play (How ironic, to have to fire someone for doing a GOOD job!). There are also certain other creative things that can be done, that probably shouldn't be described on a public forum.

I was once pressed by a dealer at MGM about not having a card. I told her that their comp system sucked, as it expires when you leave town. Can't accrue points like Total Rewards. She had no idea, and actually agreed with me. And that shut her up. So that's a good one to use which will cover half the Strip joints.

I always give them my card. They say, "Aslan?! Aren't you that guy on Blackjackinfo.com."

"No," I tell them, "You must have me mixed up with somebody else." "What's Blackjackinfo.com, anyway?"

I generally think player's cards are a good idea. Free meals and hotel rooms saves real money.

On the other hand, I will sometimes go in and be totally blatant, at a place I don't care about having an ongoing relationship with.

As I've been abusing Harrahs for free rooms and buffets for years with little play, i'm thinking that even if the Pit was to mark you as an AP, the message wouldn't get to the marketing department.

I've found that it generally doesn't.

I agree most of the time that their is a huge disconnect between the Marketing Department and the Casino Operations Department.

However, sometimes it happens.

We had it happen in Vegas - one of us hadn't been officially barred OR even backed off, and when he called a property in that chain to get a comped room he got "It says you're banned. Where were you playing? You'll have to take it up with them."
