Tournament practice software

Hi

What software is available for practicing tournament BJ? I've downloaded a trial version of Casino Verite which I believe has a tournament mode but I can't seem to locate it (any idea's?). Other than CV is there anything else out there, preferably cheaper to buy as well?

Many thanks in advance.

The latest Casino Verite (v4) has actually removed the tournament functions, and Norm plans a much-improved tournament edition of the software. Norm told me that purchasers of v4 are entitled to use the tournament features of v3, and I thought he indicated that v3 would be on the same disk. However, when I checked, I didn't find it there, so I've been including v3 disks along with the v4 copies ordered, but I just exhausted my supply of the out-dated v3 disks.

Now, to your other question: Stanford Wong also has a product called 'Tournament Blackjack'. Here's a link to the item at LVA:

I've never added it to the store here, because I don't really like it all that much. Yes, it works, and yes, if you're into tournaments, it's worth the $50. But I don't trust the simulation results very much, as the opponents don't always play tournament strategy that well. However, it does let you get practice in by playing round after round.

If you have Version 4, you can get to version 3 by running c:\program files\qfit\cvbj\cvbj.exe.

I'm working on CVBJ Tournament Edition now and it should be out fairly soon. It is a dramatic improvement. Suggestions are welcome - send to [email protected].

Thanks guys, really appreciated.

I'm based in the UK and have been watching WSOB on one of our digital channels (pokerchannel.com) and have been captivated by it. I got into hold'em from watching a program called "Late Night Poker" which was a British program and, although now discontinued, was mainly responsible for bringing poker to the masses in the UK. I wonder whether BJ will go the same way? Can't wait for our laws to be liberalised so I'll have much more access to casino BJ but until then do you guys have any tips on playing the UK casinos such as they are?

Cheers

How are the casinos now that make them more difficult to play?

At the moment inthe UK you can't just walk into a casino and play. They are private members clubs and so you have to become a member which usually doesn't cost anything but is obviously additional hassle. Also you have to wait 24 hours from being accepted as a member before you can actually play there. The way to deal with this is to apply for membership online the day before you want to play. They also tend to be not as welcoming as US based casinos with dress codes (no baseball caps, T-shirts, jeans and trainers) and they are just generally more forbiding than elsewhere. There isn't many of them either.

If I can jump in here, it's not easy to count in the UK- many casinos (well the ones where I'm a member) are employing the 6-8 deck constant shuffle machines.

Hopefully the new 'super-casinos' will require some incentives to get the punters in.... but I doubt it somehow!!

Not sure, never tried. Not sure what the law is on it either. My guess is it's the same as the States; not illegal as such, but because it's in a private club it's up to the owners whether they permit it or not.
