What's the real deal at Presque Isle Downs Erie PA ?

So I've read all kinds of conflicting reports about conditions there since they opened their tables last month. Does anyone have the straight goods on number of Shoe tables (as opposed to CSM), and how deep they are cutting?

I'm thinking of planning a Road Trip there from Toronto but would like to be sure it will not be a waste of time.

I have a [reliable] friend who posts here [but keeps a low profile]

He has now scouted and played at ALL of the Pennsylvania casinos.

The non-detailed answer to your question is that the game is acceptable,
but it is certainly not worth traveling to.

8-deck shoe....pen the first week was 1 1/4 decks cut off. Last week, 2 1/2!! When I commented, they said they were told to cut that much off because of possible card counters! I laughed and told him to cut further back.....he did, and after that shoe, pitt boss walked up, looked at me, then him and said...cut where your supposed to.

It's a terrible game now.

Rest of the info;

HL area has 5 tables, 6-deck shoe....not a bad pen at 1 1/2 decks....but the minimums are crazy. When they first opened...25, 50, 100 was the min. Now there is only 50 and 100.

It is not worth your drive unless you plan to hit Salamanca, Erie, Washington (Meadows) then the Rivers in Pitt.

There are no CSM's at Erie.....but there are at the Meadows...about 50/50 there.

from what i have heard you can get $5 tables early in the morning and then they ratchet up the min throughout the day. Evening, the smallest min will be around $15... i can't confirm the penetration problem as i haven't been there yet... I also gather that overall the tables are not generating the interest they they thought they would. Having just come back from vegas i must say there seems to be some off thinking in the casino industry or maybe i'm just stupid. But in vegas and presumably in PA(if they truly aren't doing that well) i noticed a crapload of 15/25 tables with nobody playing at them yet there were players standing 2 deep waiting for seats at the one $10 table. It seems they are happier to pay a dealer to stand there and doing nothing rather than lower the limit. In the case of harrah's and their extremely crappy rules at all properties i didn't even see a 10 dollar table yet could have fielded two baseball teams with the number of dealers standing around dealing to nobody in any one of their casinos.
