Why single deck 6:5 blackjack will last forever.

I guarantee they will not be playing it for long. You planted the seed and when they lose they will always remember.

I'm not sure. One time I was at a casino playing DD, and there was this seemingly intelligent guy I was talking to next to me. He told me he was considering going over to play a 6:5 SD game, and I told him no don't do that, explained exactly why, and he seemed to understand.

I got up to go to the bathroom, came back, and there he is sitting at the 6:5 table with a wide-eyed grin. We AP's are a rare breed, don't ever assume a muggle can or will understand and believe what we tell them.

Some casinos are losing the 6:5 games though. From what I see they don't attract high rollers at all. They'd probably be better off with a bank of slots instead of the 6:5 game but that doesn't help us either. I fear the spread of no-risk, no-work slots more than 6:5.

The casino would absolutely be better off with a bank of slots.A .25 slot player is worth much more to the casino than a $5 BJ plyer.
But the player is better off playing 6-5 BJ than most other games the casinos offer.

6/5 is the best thing to happen to blackjack in years.
sorry, i don't understand. i thought 6:5 was really bad cause of the vastly increased house edge. am i missing something?

LVHCM,
I was just in vegas.. We did not cross paths. To bad.. I was giving a table at the MGM the lecture about why 6:5 sucks.. Even the pit boss agreed. Maybe Next time.

some how i think he won't ....... probably would have to do with hole carding but i wonder since it wouldn't seem more likely that a 6:5 game would have more sloppy dealers than other games.

Lets take an example using red chips:$10 bet

$10 bet on 3:2 pays $15
$10 bet on 6:5 pays $12 or how about DD and paying $20? (assuming the count is acceptable and dealer has the right card)

How is that for great cover? Only a bozo would do that right?

At what count is it correct to throw away a sure win in order to double down?
I'd imagine it would have to be pretty damed high.
Having only played 6-5 a few times when forced to on local cruises,I'm only guessing but I doubt the PBs worry too much about your spread in these games. If you could get away with a 1-20 spread, perhaps it is a better game than a SD where you can only spread 1-3. Getting a 6-5 BJ with 20 units up sure beats getting a 3-2 with 3 units up.

Also, with the 6:5 craze sweeping the multi-deck games, you can't even be assured of getting an exploitable pitch game anymore!

Boy this is like middle school, when all of the cool kids would be in the cafeteria talking about something and laughing and them clam up when I walked up to the lunch table with my Hello Kitty lunchbox that my Mom made me use because she bought it at a garage sale for 50 cents.

Man this sucks.
