Any thoughts/comments on the show from a couple of nights ago ? I love bj, but it is not, in my humble opinion, a game for tv. I thought it was very sluggish, and just does not create the drama poker does(forgive me my fellow bj brothers) The Burger King chips we're pretty hokey too. The knockout card is interesting though

I have not seen the episode (first one of WSOBJIII). I hope to catch it Friday night.

Blackjack certainly is a challenge to make interesting for TV. I actually think the Power Play chip and the KnockOut hands make a lot of progress in that regard.

The proof will be in the rest of the shows of WSOB III, and I look forward to hearing feedback as this develops.

Also, CBS is airing Ultimate Blackjack Tour starting in September, and that format includes eliminations on hands 8,16 and 25, as well as a secret bet that can be used once per round. Gimmicks? Yes, but hey, blackjack tournaments needed something to up the excitement in the first half of the round. Seeing a bunch of players betting minimum bets for 15 hands was like watching paint dry. Will these rule changes fix it? The jury is still out. We'll see.

Sitting on the fence

I basically agree that this past episode of WSOB was rather vanilla. I've never played in a tourney, but I think that too much emphasis was placed on "shtick" ala Einiger and Hass as the "showboats". As an AP I wish they got a little more technical as is done in the hold 'em TV tournies with the pcts. recalculated after each round. I agree with GN10 that the BK whopper chips were over the top. Generally, I don't like to criticize without my own suggestions for improvement, but I can't think of much right now that would add more drama to this setup. Also wondering if this format also bores the ploppies.

There's no word yet from GSN on how or where you can qualify for WSOBJ IV.

As for when I'll be on, my round one table of WSOB III appears July 10th.

I just got done watching this weeks show. It was interesting for me but I don't know if the average person would enjoy it enough to watch every week.

I liked it, it has some moments where even my heart starts beating higher. Who was your favorit?

Joe six-pack can understand Hold Em' and BJ.
He also thinks he can play them.....
To get him to turn in evey week, they have to make it exciting.
I see the gimicks as a step in the right direction.

I didn't like the first show, but that was due to the loud and obnoxious player.
Kenny was a little loud, but not obnoxious.
He was just playing to the crowd.
I also thought the gal played a good game, in the second show.
I wish my local casino would give me a pocket full of those buger king chips to use. lol
