Kansas launched online sports betting in 2022, but the apps stop at sports: online casinos are not legal here, and the state's sportsbook contracts are now tangled in a renewal fight. Real-money online casino play from Kansas happens offshore. Two of the biggest offshore names, Bovada and Red Dog, refuse Kansas outright. We verified which of the rest take Kansas players and ranked the ones worth your deposit.
Facts checked against Kansas law and casino terms: 24 Июль 2026
You have sportsbooks. You do not have casino apps.
Kansas bettors run into this all the time. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, ESPN Bet and Fanatics have all been legal in Kansas since sports betting launched on 1 September 2022, and their apps are heavily marketed. But those are sports-betting licenses only. Open the casino tab inside one of the same apps from a Kansas location and it is switched off, because Kansas has never legalized online casino games.
There is not even a bill in play to change that. While other states debate iGaming, Kansas has instead spent 2025 and 2026 fighting over the sports betting it already has: the state’s launch contracts with its six sportsbooks expire on 27 August 2027, and lawmakers, unhappy that the state keeps so little of the money wagered, passed a 2025 budget provision blocking the lottery from negotiating any renewals until mid-2026. As of this writing that second term is still unsettled, and no online-casino proposal has surfaced alongside it.
So a Kansan who wants real-money slots or online blackjack finds the sportsbooks and their in-state casino tabs closed to them, and the offshore casinos below are what fills the gap.

Ranked by our review scores. The green line under each casino is our eligibility check: the date we read that casino’s own terms and confirmed Kansas players are accepted. One casino is still waiting on its check, so its card makes no promise yet.

Why offshore casinos, and why two big names are missing
Kansas regulates sportsbooks but not online casinos, so there is no state-licensed casino app to recommend. The casinos above are offshore: they run from outside the US, mostly under Curacao or Panama licenses, and they take Kansas players because no state law reaches them.
The trade-off is real and worth stating plainly. If an offshore casino treats you badly, no US regulator will step in for you. The operator’s own record is your protection, which is why payout history and dispute handling weigh so heavily in our reviews, and why we run a complaints desk on every review page and take unresolved cases up with the casino ourselves.
Two names you would expect to see are gone on purpose. Bovada, usually our top US pick, refuses Kansas: the state is on its published restricted list. And Red Dog, which turns away almost no one, keeps a two-state blacklist of exactly Kansas and Michigan, so it is out here too. Both drop off the page before we rank, which is why our top pick in Kansas is Ignition. That is the kind of thing we verify rather than assume. For the wider picture of who licenses these sites and which licenses mean something, read our гид по офшорным казино.
How we check these casinos for Kansas
Every offshore casino publishes its own list of US states it refuses, and no two lists are the same. Bovada blocks twenty states, Kansas among them; Red Dog blocks only Kansas and Michigan; BetOnline blocks exactly one. So we check each casino against its own terms:
Читаем условия. We open each casino’s current terms and conditions, find the restricted-states list, and check whether Kansas is on it. Bovada and Red Dog both list it, which is why neither appears above.
A casino with no completed check carries no eligibility line. Right now that is VipSlots: still ranked on review strength, but making no Kansas promise until we have read its terms.
Gambling law in Kansas: what is actually legal
Kansas has state-owned casinos and legal sports betting, but online casino play is not among the things the state allows.

No legal online casino, and no iGaming bill has advanced. Kansas legalized sports betting in 2022 but did not include online casino games.

Legal and live since 1 September 2022 under SB 84, regulated by the Kansas Lottery. The launch contracts with the six sportsbook operators expire on 27 August 2027, and a 2025 budget provision barred the Lottery from negotiating renewals until mid-2026, so the market's second term and its tax rate are unsettled as of mid-2026.

No Kansas statute bans online dual-currency sweepstakes sites, and none has been named in a state action, so the category sits in a gray area under the prize-chance-consideration test in K.S.A. 21-6403.

Licensed charitable bingo and raffles are allowed; nonprofit raffles were authorized by a 2014 constitutional amendment.
Will you get in trouble for playing online from Kansas?
Gambling is a class B nonperson misdemeanor under K.S.A. 21-6404, punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. Commercial gambling is a more serious offense under K.S.A. 21-6406, a felony for running a game for profit. The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission and law enforcement target operators and illegal machines, not individual players; there is no record of Kansas prosecuting anyone for playing at an offshore online casino. Federal law points the same way, since the UIGEA targets gambling businesses and payment processors, not players.

Kansas built its gambling around a state-run model, and the current fight is about how much of the take the state keeps.
2007
The Kansas Expanded Lottery Act authorizes state-owned casinos, run by private managers under contract to the Kansas Lottery.
2022
SB 84 legalizes sports betting, and wagering goes live on 1 September through the state’s casinos and their online partners.
2025
Unhappy with how little revenue the state keeps, lawmakers slip a provision into the budget barring the lottery from negotiating any sportsbook contract renewals until mid-2026. Renewals frozen
2026
The freeze lifts and the debate over a higher tax rate for the second contract term plays out, with no online-casino bill in sight.
2027
The launch sportsbook contracts expire on 27 August. What replaces them, and on what terms, is still open.
Taxes on winnings in Kansas
Offshore casinos send no tax forms, but the winnings are still taxable. The IRS counts all gambling winnings as income whether or not a W-2G exists (IRS Topic 419), and Kansas taxes them too. The state moved to a two-bracket income tax in its 2024 reform: 5.2% on lower incomes and 5.58% above the threshold, so a Kansas player’s winnings face a top state rate of 5.58% on top of federal tax (Kansas Department of Revenue).
Losses can offset winnings, but the federal deduction shrank in 2026. Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, only 90% of gambling losses are deductible, still capped at your winnings. Win $10,000 and lose $10,000 in a year and you broke even at the tables but still owe tax on $1,000.
The takeaway: keep session-level records. Dates, deposits, withdrawals, results. With no casino paperwork arriving, your own log is the only trail you will have.
Getting money in and out from Kansas
No Kansas law stops a deposit. The friction is your bank: a card issuer can decline a gambling charge, which is routine and not a legal problem. Visa clears more often than Mastercard, and several of these casinos add 5 to 15% fees on card deposits. Cards also cannot receive a withdrawal.
Crypto is what these casinos are built around and the only method good in both directions. Bitcoin deposits are free at most of them, and payouts run in minutes to hours: 2 to 6 hours at Ignition, about 15 minutes at Slots.lv once the standard 48-hour approval clears, inside a day at Cafe Casino. Kansas online casino FAQ
If sports betting is legal in Kansas, why are casino apps not?
Because Kansas’s 2022 law legalized sports betting only. It did not cover online casino games. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, ESPN Bet and Fanatics hold sports-betting licenses here, and the casino tabs inside those same apps stay switched off for Kansas players.
Why are Bovada and Red Dog not on your Kansas list?
Both refuse the state. Kansas is on Bovada’s published restricted list, and Red Dog keeps a two-state blacklist of exactly Kansas and Michigan. Neither will open an account for a Kansas player, which is why our top pick here is Ignition instead.
Is Kansas about to legalize online casinos?
No. There is no iGaming bill in play. Kansas lawmakers are focused on the sports-betting contracts that expire in 2027 and on raising the state’s cut, not on adding online casinos.
Do I owe taxes on offshore casino winnings in Kansas?
Yes. Winnings are taxable income: federal tax plus Kansas’s state rate, which tops out at 5.58%. And from the 2026 tax year only 90% of gambling losses are deductible against them. Details are in the taxes section above.
What is the minimum gambling age for Kansas players at offshore casinos?
18 at most offshore casinos, though a few require 21. Kansas’s state-owned casinos and its sportsbooks are 21. Each casino’s terms state its own minimum, so check before you deposit.
