    Card counting vs. drug dealing?

You're absolutely right about the average people assuming that you're a gambler even after being given a definition of an AP and what he/she does to make capital in the long run. At the end of the last school year, the Catholic school system (in Alberta, Canada) decided to stop using Casino...

    Card counting vs. drug dealing?

Simply amazing! I'm very impressed with the responses (but not surprised :)). Funding post-secondary studies, contributing back to society with the gains and setting aside money for beneficiaries makes going to the 'store' worthwhile it for me. After staying out of the casinos for...

    Card counting vs. drug dealing?

I've taken about a year hiatus from playing the tables (bought a house with my bankroll) and I've met the love of my life during that time. One day she asked me how I control my emotions so well. Not wanting to keep any secrets from her, I told it was from the countless hours I spent counting...

How long do you think they would allow one to play

When I first taught my brother how to count cards, he spent 12 hours in a local casino honing his skills with a 1-4 spread ($5 unit). He was getting looks from almost all of the pit bosses, dealers and waiting staff. I'm fairly sure everyone knew what he was doing but it wasn't worth the...

    funny thing today... ratholing

A question for the experts: When you rathole chips, how do you go about cashing them in later? Do you have a stack of black chips at home from various casinos?

    1-4 Spread Sufficient?

Looking at 2 standard deviations (using CVCX - 4D, DAS, H17), the most damage would be ~ -$1050 for 1 hour of play. For 2 hours, ~ -$2100. That number would change depending on casino rules. On the flipside, the upswings are much higher too. I personally wouldn't start with less than a $20,000...

    1-4 Spread Sufficient?

I agree with SystemsTrader. The worst day I've had playing a 1-4 spread ($25 unit), I lost $1400 in a little over 2 hours. Playing a 1-10 spread ($5 unit), the most damage up until now has been no more than $500 in one session.

Need to let out some steam...

Thanks for the replies mates! I have almost been backed off one other time and they might have my picture up somewhere on their AP list. I play up north in Alberta. Conditions are favorable but the table limits are too low to make it a highly profitable game. 4D, H17, ES 10, 75% pen.

Need to let out some steam...

I took a 9 month break from the AP life and then decided to return to the grind last week. I was playing a four deck shoe, spreading 1-3 ($10 minimum bet). I quickly notice a player across the pit who has a 4 large stacks of red chips and he's following every card. I'm thinking to myself...

Anybody keep ending up next to that one stupid ploppy who says....

Hahaha, nice. Then I should have asked the pitboss if I can backroom this ploppy to teach him a little table etiquette.

Anybody keep ending up next to that one stupid ploppy who says....

I hear you brother. One night, I was playing next to two ploppies (I'm going to call them Spanky and Slapnuts). Slapnuts was doubling his hard 12 vs. dealer 4 and hitting hard 18 vs. dealer A. Spanky and I were having a decent conversation while I was betting the $10 minimum through about 3...

    Officially Over

At least you lost your money on the tables. I was at a funeral last summer when my house got broken into. I came back home to find my hidden safety deposit box was cracked open and 40 one hundred dollar bills were missing. That was the biggest hit my bankroll has ever seen!

    How to deal with Heat

Thanks for the advice, the dealer caught me off guard with her comment and I didn't want to draw attention to myself by calling over the pit bosses. I normally play a 1-10 spread ($5 - $50) but the nickel tables were crowded. My BR is $7500 to minimize risk of ruin. Do you have any suggestions...

    How to deal with Heat

That's awesome. I like your style Ferret. I'm going to start playing with some attitude. I've never seen the count get that high before. It's the first time I've ever seen the count that high since I started playing a little over a year ago.
